I’ve just started my 4th and final round after starting IVF in 2021(and a few years of ttc before that… unexplained fertility issues apart from age, andenomyosis and husband working away a lot up to 2021!). It has been a longer journey than hoped or planned! I said my cut off was 43 but stuff happened along the way and here we are 🤷♀️.
I’m hoping for egg collection next week and then fresh transfer however many days after that depending on how it goes. I’m on a hugely different protocol… basically opposite: short protocol and low dosage of drugs. Tbh I’m glad to shake it up a bit.
I just wondered if anyone had any success stories with similar age and own eggs.
Wishing you all a sunny day wherever you are and all the best wherever you’re at in your own journeys ☀️ 🌸🌊x

Hello, just wanted to wish you the best of success with this round. I have heard a couple of successes on here with own eggs at 43 but it's hard.
I've just turned 44 this month and will start another fresh round on my next cycle. It will be my 6th fresh round since last April 😜 and may well be the last with my own eggs. It's tough!
Hopefully your new protocol will make a difference.
A friend of mine had her first daughter through IVF at 39 - then a few years followed trying for a sibling , she finally got pregnant at 45 and had another little girl at 46! 💫💪
Ah, McQueeny, that’s great! Thanks so much for sharing! I needed this! Round 3 I was all over the place! Feel it’s important to go in believing it can happen this time. 💪✨x
I’m 43 and doing a FET on Monday with an embryo created from age 42 (nov/Dec last year). I hope it works! The fresh transfer in Dec ended up being a chemical.
This is my last go. I have a son from ICSI in 2015 when I was 35.
Hi Claire, Thanks for messaging. I’m really sorry to hear what you’ve been through. Wishing you positive energy and luck too moving forward. We are still in it! 💪🍀🤞✨xx
my friend (43) is currently in labour following successful FET and I conceived naturally at 42 after a failed IVF round in Jan last year. It definitely can happen xx best of luck to you!
When I was 41 I naturally conceived but had a missed miscarriage (around 5.5 weeks) although this was not diagnosed until week 11. I then had fertility tests at 42 and I was told I had very low AMH and the low AMH combined with my age meant it would be difficult for me to get pregnant. I had two attempts at IVF and both times I only got one blastocyst. First one didn’t implant and the second one I had tested and it was aneuploid. I then naturally conceived when I was 43 but had another missed miscarriage at week 8. Sadly there was no heartbeat. After taking advice from two reputable and knowledgeable doctors - both of whom said that I would need to have 30 rounds of IVF to achieve a life birth and that I had a less than one percent chance of conceiving either through IVF or naturally because of my age, we decided to pursue the donor egg route. We purchased some frozen eggs and managed to create seven blastocysts. Three days before I was supposed to start the process to have one of those blastocysts transferred I found out I was pregnant again. The day of my positive pregnancy test also happened to be the day before my 44th birthday. We didn’t think this pregnancy would go anywhere due to our previous experiences but our little boy who is now 12 weeks old defied the odds. I would say yes it is possible to conceive at 43/44 but also very difficult because of the increased chromosomal abnormalities and in my case my low egg reserve. I really do hope that you are successful and hope that my tale provides you with some hope. Best of luck.
Hey dear I had my 3rd and 4th round ivfs back to back when i just turned to 45 with short protocol and much less drugs called mini ivf those were the best embryos we had even the ones at 42. I had 100% fertilization and results although few but all 2 eggs turned to great quality blasts. But I took myo inositol for 2 month 2*2000 everyday and DH too. If you look at my previous posts i explained throughly. Myo inositol decrease number of eggs but increase quality. And for sperm too. DH took abt 2 month in total before and during my stims. Plus ubiquinol PPQ prenatal vitamins folic acid nac etc.
We have our embryos still frozen bcuz I had adenomyosis and very large uterus due to that plus endo and lots of fibroids. I did a surgery back in June last year to remove everything and reconstructed the uterus. I am now waiting for my appointment with my RE to do a sono hysto gram to check the uterus if ready we will go ahead with FET.
What did you do for adenomyosis? Did dr say its ok to transfer with that present? I read some people get pregnant with that but still depends if the diagnosis is hundred percent.
I wish you good luck pls make sure you had your supplements long enough before going through with ivf those are very important also castor oil pack and massage very very useful I believe in it more than accupunture or anything else gor encouraging blood flow to ovaries and uterus.
Hi, My consultant was not worried about my adenomyosis as we’ve had implantation before. We have been taking our supplements for a long while now. Thanks for your message and good luck with your frosties ✨🍀🌸🤞x
I was almost 44 when I had success with my own egg. It was following 3 rounds of embryo banking. After the 3rd round, we did a fresh transfer with 2 embryos and one stuck! I also have 3 embryos on ice!
Hi everyone. I turned 42 in December 22. Had a miscarriage at 39 in 2020 very early in the pregnancy (7/8 weeks). Scheduled a fertility appointment for Jan 23 since I was not getting pregnant, but I tested positive at the end of Jan. Scan at 8 weeks showed It was a blighted ovum gestation, so no embryo, although I was pregnant.. Had an appointment with a fertility specialist this month (I'm based in the US). Prices are horrendous here and insurance doesn't cover. I've been reading that at 42 my odds are very low and most people need more than one round. I lived in the UK for 10+ years before we moved. Considering options in the UK that are more reasonable.... Clinic is asking for $17,000 (+4-7K in medications) plus nearly$5,000 (+2-4k medication) for transfer. Unreasonable if one needs more than one cycle right? Plus the odds are disheartening...
Hi Catmoma, I’m sorry to hear of your painful journey to date. You’re not wrong about the odds once you hit a certain point but as you can see from this thread, it does happen. As for the cost… yeah… it’s pretty painful. We’re on our 4th round and had to go private for the lot due to age, postcode rule at the time; the pandemic hitting just added to the reasons. Totally sucked. Good luck with whatever you do. 👍
We had a fresh transfer and our OTD in May was a BFN, so that was the end for us (financially and emotionally). We’re nearly 3 months on now. I’m now putting my efforts into coaching women currently on their fertility treatment journey, so that they can feel empowered and a sense of ownership, whilst handling the ups and downs. It helped me out a lot when we were going through it all and I recognise how it’s helped us come out the other side intact too. Too often, that is not the case. Wishing you the best of luck wherever you are on your journey x✨🌸🌊
