Currently getting mentally ready for my third fresh round of ivf next week (2 past rounds resulted in 1 5d blast each, both BFN). Really struggling to be positive, whereas I never struggled in the past - doesn’t help that cycle has been delayed slightly due to weird periods (- 45 day cycle followed by 15 day cycle). To top it off I had a work meeting with an old colleague, that ended with the old “... I haven’t formally told anyone yet at work yet, but I’m pregnant” Cue all the fake smiles and gushing comments from me (I’m really happy for her but like, COME ON UNIVERSE, give me a break!)
Anyone out there with a 3rd round success I cling to before I drink my booze cupboard dry in self pity?

Feeling your pain at the moment! We’re waiting for our third ivf round (just done consent form signing so hoping next month or the one after). I don’t know how to feel now though, feels different to the first and second one and we’ve had a bad couple of weeks for the pregnancy announcements etc so that’s not helped! So can’t offer a success story sorry but do feel your pain and mirroring how you feel at the moment!
Same boat here! Everyone and their dog seems to be getting pregnant except us. 5 years ttc next month which is when 3rd cycle should start. I defo need a cup of positivitea!! 😂. Xx
My friend had success with her third round! First two, she had 5 day transfers with BFN's. Third time they transferred on day 2 (she put phone down on Embryologist as was so upset and despondent) and it worked!! She has a beautiful little girl now.Step away from the booze cupboard!! Lots of luck. 💕
Thanks for sharing. I totally understand why she’d hang up on the embryologist! Hahaha I’d totally do the same. I backed away from the booze cupboard and watched trash tv instead.
Yes! Third transfer, at least. My first round we had to do a freeze all - ended up with two 5d blast, did two FETs, both BFN. Then did another fresh cycle, again 2 5d blast, managed a fresh transfer and it worked! We now have a gorgeous little boy and about to start a FET with our remaining frostie x keep on and be strong, you’ll get there , it’s torture .... I had sooooo many fake smiles and melt downs, and had to walk out of a work meeting when two colleagues started talking about how they timed their getting pregnant to pick the baby’s birth month!! 😭🤬
Thank you! And good luck to you in your next cycle 🤞 x
Me, 3 fresh rounds, 2BFN's, 3rd worked and I had my 12 week scan yesterday (twins) . I know it's hard to believe it can work after a failed round but it can and often does. Good luck with it, fingers crossed this is the one xx
Im in the same boat hun. Im prepping body for my 3rd transfer on March 10th. Its such an emotional roller coaster. Im doing it for a couple and its heartbreaking to have bad news for them. My 2nd implanted great(hcg was 33 at 5dpt) but then on my 10 day it was the same. 15 day it had dropped. So im praying so hard for you and keep us updated!!!! ♡♡♡
Wow. It's amazing that you are going this for others - I have everything crossed for you in your 3rd transfer. And thank-you so much for the well wishes.
Hey I hope you don’t mind this message but I’m same as you, first cycle fresh didn’t work, second natural FET implanted but hcg slow rising and MC today one week later. What will you do differently this time or just repeat an FET? Xx
The first 2 attempts, were one of my guys' embryos. Thats all he had. So now this 3rd time will be his partners embryos. They are pretty positive this round will work due to it being the spouses embryos(no health issues ever). So i so hope it does!! Nothing new except no caffeine 2 weeks prior to transfer(ive actually cut it almost conpletely out already). Everything else i followed by the books and the dr said its nothing with me thats causing it. Sooo fingers crossed!
It sounds like my story started exactly the same way as yours, two fresh rounds resulting in one 5 day top quality blastocyst each, both BFNs and none in the freezer. There was no explanation so I found it hard to understand why my third round would work.
Third round, we made a few little changes but it didn’t start particularly well when they only saw 3 follicles at the first progress scan and nearly cancelled. I was disheartened but managed to pick myself up and put all my positivity into those three follicles telling myself that one was a potential baby!
Somehow a few more follicles grew from being way too small and I was on stims a lot longer than my previous rounds and we ended up with 5 eggs. 3 were viable and two made it to day 5 so we opted to have both transferred.
I now have twins who turned 1 on Valentine’s Day!! I literally couldn’t believe it throughout my whole pregnancy and still can’t some days!!
Don’t give up, there really is hope even when there’s no reason or understanding it! And protect yourself as much as you can from pregnancy announcement, do what you need to focus on yourself.
I have a similar story, I am currently prepping for my third FET next month - 1st go i didnt even get to transfer, second round ended in 1 5 day blast which resulted in a BFN, this time i have changed clinic and medication and i am totally opposite i feel so so positive this time round my issue is with my fallopian tubes both are blocked but no issue with anything else fertility related so i keep thinking it has to work one day... Maybe setting myself up for heartache but i cant help it right now, trying to eat as healthy as possible as i cannot for the life in me stop chocolate, ive cute alcohol out and caffeine and excersising 6 times a week which is keeping my mind positive, i really do hope we all get the outcome we dream of and each one of us gets to be the one who finally can announce there pregnant... Good luck and i really do wish you all the best lets hope third time lucky
I admire your positivity - fingers crossed this round will be your round I've made lots of lifestyle changes too [coffee now 1 cup per week - from 3 per day, no alcohol - I resisted the booze cupboard last night! - and exercise] - I just really am struggling with the mental side at the moment. I don't think the lockdown helps...
It’s such a hard journey, hang in there, I’m sure you’ll have success soon.
2 fresh rounds (freeze all both times), 3 FETs (1st = BFN (our best embryo), 2nd = MC, 3rd = twins (12 weeks tomorrow). 6 x clomid / IUI cycles before that, always BFN. Still got a way to go but never thought I’d get to this point! Best of luck to you. Third go is the charm for so many ladies! ❤️ Xx
Ps totally hear you on the smiles (whilst wishing the ground would swallow you up!) xx
Third go seems to be the twin round!! Hahaha. I think everyone who has responded so far has conceived twins! That's amazing news, I wish you all the best for the pregnancy And thank-you so much for responding. This forum is such a help.
You’re welcome lovely. Maybe it’s because clinics tend to suggest putting two in after two failed attempts, I don’t know? I really didn’t expect twins as grades were lower than ones that hadn’t worked. Hope it gives you hope for your BFP Xx
I was 3rd time lucky. First round ended in a missed miscarriage and second was BFN. For our third cycle we ended up with two not quite blastocysts at Day 5. Got told they started off well but slowed down however embryologist wasn’t ruling anything out. Not feeling hopeful we decided to transfer both. Thankfully a miracle happened and one stuck leading to a really smooth pregnancy and birth. Our little boy is 3 months old now and is just perfect. I still can’t believe he’s here. Hopefully you are just as lucky, keeping everything crossed for you xx
It was 3rd round lucky for me. I now have a beautiful baby boy who was born in August just gone.
I was 39 for my 1st round and 40 by the time we had 3rd round. It was definitely my best in terms of the number of eggs retrieved (16), the fertilisation rate (10) and the number of blastocysts we ended up with (6). We transferred 2 and froze 4. Previous rounds we got 9 and 6 eggs.
I strongly believe the game changer was following the supplement plan for advanced maternal age and endometriosis suggested in the book “It Starts with the Egg”. My husband took the supplements recommended for increased sperm quality too.
I really hope this is your round too. Sending lots of love 💕 , luck 🍀and baby dust ✨
I found an improvement between round 1 and round 2 after starting supplements (COQ10, Zinc, Vit D, Fish oil, Folic Acid). I did toy with DHEA but my cycle got messed up after round 2 and I heard DHEA can affect that so I panicked and didn't use it... did you use DHEA? I'll definitely try it next round (though I'm hopefully I won't need to). What did your hubby take?
I did take DHEA but I have heard others say they didn’t get on that well with it.
My hubby took quite a few, almost the same as me except for the DHEA and melatonin. He definitely took vits D, C and E, omega 3 and something called O.N.E multivitamin by Pure Encapsulations.
I'm just starting my third also! 6 days into stims, first progress scan tomorrow morning, hoping for more success than my last cycle which was pretty dreadful (only two eggs retrieved, transfer cancelled as none lived past day 3).
Sorry to hear that your last round wasn’t too great. The one thing I’ve learned on here is that each round seems to be totally different to the next. Best of luck with this round, I have everything crossed for you. Hope this thread has broad you as much positivity as it’s brought me!
So I didn't get pregnant on my third round... I was overstimulated and ended up with 2 pgt-a abnormal embryos, which I had to discard. As you can imagine, I felt pretty down and hopeless afterwards... Fully prepared myself for round 4, bought the meds, was all ready to go.... Then got pregnant naturally. Partly because of the meds I'm on for nk cells but also because I think the ivf meds were still in my system which probably helped a lot. Keep positive, it will happen eventually, just a matter of keeping at it. Most of us need a few cracks of the whip to get the right combo. It's rare for ivf to work 1st or 2nd time xx
FIVE Frosties!?!? That’s amazing. Congrats on your little boy. Thanks for sharing. I’ve gotten so much from everyone’s kind words on here. Thank you so much!
