Ive booked in to have fertility acupuncture, just to give it a shot after reading up on it. I was wondering if anyone has positive/negative experiences with this?

mine was not fertility specific but I found it to be amazing and really helped me relax! Even if it was in my head at least I was lying down for an hour every week or two! X

Everyone i know who has had it raves about it (including a friend who had it for non fertility issues).

I am the exception and personally found it a bit underwhelming. I wasn’t particularly relaxed and it didn’t help me to get pregnant. It was also quite pricey because you had to have a few sessions. i also hate the smell of incense.

But I have seen people swear by it and feel it was the thing that helped them stay grounded. And anything that gets you through ivf is a bonus!

Hi,

I was skeptical about acupuncture but after a failed transfer and a miscarriage I gave it a go for third transfer. I about 2 months of sessions - one a week. That transfer is my son. No idea if the acupuncture did help but it helped me knowing I gave everything a shot. X

I just had my first session 2 weeks ago.. felt really relaxed during and after! I’m trying it after 2 failed IUI, a chemical after IUI and a miscarriage at 12 weeks after Fresh IVF transfer. Just started my meds for a FET and transferring at end of month and I’m off tomorrow and then on the day of transfer before/after treatment. Hopefully it works and I’ve been recommended to keep going if I get a BFP.

Hi there.I started fertility acupuncture after a miscarriage as i was told it was good for fertility.I can’t say I found it relaxing and it was very costly.I actually found it quite painful but kept going with weekly sessions as it was meant to be good for you.I’m currently 34 weeks pregnant after my second cycle(second transfer) of ivf but can’t say if it helped me get pregnant as I did it on my first ivf cycle and had no luck.x

I’ve had acupuncture and cupping for many years, prior to fertility treatment, for all sorts but mostly just general health and well being. I had it regularly during my first 5 cycles! I personally love it, I find it relaxing and believe it helps with all sorts but it hasn’t helped on our fertility journey so far and I can’t afford it at the moment, so having a break. I’ve never had incense on during a treatment. You need to feel comfortable and feel like it’s good for you/making sense for you. Best of luck x

I have had acupuncture non-fertility related on my back and really felt the benefit. So I started fertility acupuncture with my first FET and did about 6 sessions or so, but I didn’t feel relaxed as I had when I was doing it on my back. So for my second FET I decided to try another therapist and give it a last shot and I definitely feel a lot more relaxed and enjoying the sessions with the new therapist. So sometimes it’s about finding the right therapist for you. Good luck on your journey xx

Hi, I had accupuncture once a week for 12 weeks before my 1st IVF cycle and I'm currently 9 weeks pregnant. I don't know if that helped or not but I'd like to believe it did. I also didn't find the procedure of IVF too stressful which I believe the accupuncture helped with as it can help with stress.

Good luck x

I had 3 sessions of acupuncture for my latest FET after a failed fresh transfer, I have just had a positive which is wonderful, but really don’t know how much it helped as I didn’t go for the 3 months of sessions they usually like (too expensive!).

What I can say though is I found the therapist great to talk to, she advised me on many things that I felt were helpful, (small worries and concerns) especially reassuring as my clinic can be hard to get hold of.

I recommend purely as a great form of extra support during such an emotional journey and they really care! Definitely worth it based on that alone.

I’ve been going every week for over a year - I love it and find it really relaxing. Still no baby, though …..

I had it on all 4 of my FET cycles and the embryo successfully implanted every time - unfortunately 2 were ectopic pregnancies but the other 2 were successful. I can’t say for certain that it was the acupuncture but I genuinely feel it made a difference in the success of my treatment. Good luck with future treatment. X

I started accupuncture last year, I have totally irregular cycles and on waiting list for ivf. The practitioner was able to tell all sorts of things about stress, sleep and my poor blood circulation by barely touching me and putting needles in various places it was really interesting. I did find it odd and sometimes sore but also really relaxing and I started at once a week. It is too expensive for now and I'm going for once a month. While having it my cycles got closer to a 'normal irregular' and my periods were barely painful anymore. Now I've stopped for a month my cycle went back to 43 days pre-accupuncture insanity. As someone who doesn't find full body massages relaxing or strangers touching me (except my head), accupuncture was a great alternative and when I can afford it & I have a date for ivf I'll be going back.

They did try to make me take lots of Eastern medicine which I tried to start but stopped quickly as it messed with my digestive system. Just had to be firm with what I wanted.

I started accu after my 2nd miscarriage last year. It’s so relaxing. I’m now 10 weeks on my 6th transfer and this is the only one I’ve done accu for so not saying that’s why it’s worked, but it can’t have hurt! It is pricey and they do want you to go for a few months prior to treatment. Good luck! xxx

well I have no concrete proof that acupuncture worked but before and at the beginning of my successful FET (following an unsuccessful one) I had acupuncture. It was one of many things I did differently so all I can say is if I did it again I would do all of the same things again incl acupuncture

Hi! I had acupuncture on my 2nd round of IVF. The transfer wasn't successful for me but the acupuncture was amazing! Helped reduce the stress. Good luck 🤞🏻 xxx
