Hi guys,

I did my first IVF and it worked , surprisingly. Considering the fact that nothing ever comes easy to me. But then , before I could get Happy about it, I had a missed miscarriage at 8 weeks . I am now preparing myself for FET next month.

Can someone let me know if acupuncture really helps or is it just a myth ? For the last one Which worked for me, I did not have any sessions.

Looking forward to hearing from you all 😊

I had acupuncture for my FET which was successful, I haven’t had any other FETs though. I found acupuncture really relaxing and helped me to destress. Hope all goes well for you xx

I'll let you know in a week or so! 😉 I found it great even if it didn't work as my lovely acupuncturist is also like my therapist! Was nice to be able to let all my thoughts and feelings out for an hour a week xx

I’m so sorry for your loss xx

I did acupuncture after my first IVF round ended in a miscarriage. The lady was amazing and as someone else already said, I think she became my sort of therapist and it really helped me work through how I was feeling.

I don’t think the acupuncture itself had any positive impact on my treatment, that round failed and I stopped going but it did really help me emotionally work through things xx

Hya hunn, so sorry to hear about your miscarriage 😔 my heart goes out to you.. I did acupuncture with my FET round and I now have a 2 year old .. I did it three times in total and stopped once I had the transfer done.

I’m hopefully starting my ivf journey again the end of August/ beginning of September and will definitely be doing acupuncture again xxx

Yes I’m a big advocate of Accupuncture. After my third miscarriage I was totally worn out and physically depleted but within a week of seeing my acupuncturist, I felt so much better. I’m now naturally pregnant at 41 after 2 failed IVF’s. I had Accupuncture during the 2 failed ivfs but the reason they failed was because my egg count was so low and I didn’t respond to the stims. I don’t think even the best Acupuncturist in the world could have changed that but I do think accupuncture has helped me stay fertile and enabled me to conceive with one of my remaining eggs!

That’s amazing, congrats, how far along are you! I’m 41 at the end of this week, just finished 2nd cycle which failed, last two Frosties were PGT-A tested and found with chromosomal abnormalities, If you don’t mind me asking, did you find out why both your cycles failed?

I’m 11 weeks right now. The ivf cycles were cancelled bc on the first one only 1 follicle grew and on the second (a more natural cycle) no follicles grew and they thought I wouldn’t ovulate that month. Hope that helps x

Yes it’s interesting - we are going back to see the Dr to see what she suggests x

I forgot to add my husband is older at 58, but he has a son from a previous marriage who is now 23 ......... so I have no idea what’s going on

I had acupuncture 2months prior to my egg retrieval. i use to go twice a month. After egg retrieval i went once a week and straight after my transfer i did a session and a few there after. i felt it help get the blood flood as i was not allowed to exercise because it would cause a bleed so i felt i needed to get something to assist me with the blood flow. She also kept me sane threw out the process as she advised me on numerous occasions and checked up on me quite often. I was fortunate to have my ivf work on the first try but this was after 2 natural miscarriages and an etopic pregnancy. You must do what makes you feel comfortable and just go with your gut.

Acupuncture has been used for thousands of years. I’m a big fan, both for de-stressing and bringing blood flow to the womb area.... and to remove blood blockages in the body so the blood circulates better. There've been many stories of women falling pregnant naturally from it. It’s so relaxing too, I always fall asleep! Enjoy xx

My first 2 cycles of icsi I didn’t have acupuncture and both didn’t work with nothing to freeze, my 3rd cycle of icsi I done acupuncture for about 4 months before got bfp with 2 Frosties but they did change me from menopur to gonal for the 3rd cycle so maybe a combination of the changes that helped. Unfortunately that pregnancy ended in miscarriage due to blighted ovum at about 8 weeks but I continued acupuncture all the way throughout til the end had a few weeks off acupuncture then started again in January I then had FET in March this year and I am currently nearly 22 weeks pregnant. I managed to get 2 acupuncture sessions in before lockdown one on day of transfer and again 7 days later and not had anymore since xxx

I had acupuncture post missed miscarriage and ectopic and it was the most relaxing thing I could do! I’m about to have it again now after restrictions have lifted to help with anxiety in pregnancy! I’m not sure if it helped me physically but I have no doubt that it helps me mentally! And we all know how strong our brains need to be for conception and pregnancy! Xx

I am sorry about your loss, I had a loss too and I know how it feels. Yes, acupunture definitely help, my problem was with the circulation and stagnation of blood. It is so much better now. You need to make sure you go to the right people through, if you are in London I can recommend someone who is one of the european leaders in the field.

The only time I did acupuncture was the cycle that worked for me. So I don’t know if it was down to the acupuncture or not. I just had it the morning of transfer xx

I had acupuncture during my ivf cycle and was successful but I believe it helped me more mentally rather than with the actual outcome.

I think Acupuncture is great if anything for an hour of relaxation they put really thin needles in and let you sleep...great to chat to and they try and correct imbalances...body heat spleen kidney in their own methods. On the day of transfer you ideally see them before and after...if impossible ecdn a day or two before is ok. They believe it'll hold embie in place and implant. Make sure they are registered on british acupuncture council. I forgot to check this in my latest cycle and had a butcher but then luckily changed after the incident to a fantastic registered one...so be careful. Good luck xx

Hartley1 do you think acupuncture is ok on egg collection day and on ET day? When is best time after the collection/transfer is done ?

Hartley1 profile image
Hartley1 in reply toCici85

The acupuncturist will let you know...but in my case usually 5 days between egg collection and embryo transfer...so one time I had seen acupuncturist on embryo transfer day before and after and thought this was the only option...but on my recent successful one for the before transfer I saw her the day before, and for the 'after' transfer saw her straight after. She mentioned before and after has to be within 48 hrs or something like that...

I went to centred health in South Croydon...they were fab.

Yes they do recommend even after egg collection but I didn't go on the day as got quite late with collection and 5hr intralipids infusion I had for high nk cells...but I went the day after...as the acupuncturist said they could help reduce the inflammation from collection.

I was sceptical but I thought trust acupuncturist and what did I have to lose.

Good luck :)
