I'm 9 weeks pregnant with twins via ivf. For the past few weeks I've had some on and off spotting, mostly brown however a few days ago I had some bright red bleeding and mild cramping.
Went to the early pregnancy unit who said both babies are doing fine and couldn't find a cause for the bleeding as such so they have put it down to a cervical ectropian.
The nurse told me to keep an eye on it and to go back if it happens again and they could check my cervix, which they don't usually like to do when you're pregnant.
Fast forward to today and I had a gushing feeling. Went to check and it was bright red blood again, more than before, alot more, like I had actually seen myself. Also have cramps again which although aren't painful, they are certainly more than they were the other day.
I spoke to a doctor at my clinic who recommended another scan next week but said it's not uncommon to bleed etc in pregnancy.
I had a scan at 5weeks 6 days because of bleeding, then again at 7 weeks because it was too early to see both heartbeats.
Then a scan this week when I was 8 weeks and 5 days. All scans have been fine.
My first Midwife appointment isn't booked in for another couple of weeks when I'll be 11 weeks pregnant.
I feel all over the place because I can't see anywhere about cramping with a cervical ectropian?
Of course now with Easter it's impossible to be seen and I feel so anxious.

Did they not check your cervix already just by looking? You can see an ectropion relatively easily as long as a speculum is in (the cervix looks red) so I’m not sure why that is an issue pregnant. I have had one, not when pregnant, and it poured brown watery and then bright red blood so from experience they can bleed horrendously. They should not cramp though. It’s probably all ok, bleeding is very common in pregnancy, but I would push them to see you again xx
I was in a very similar situation to you a few weeks ago (twins too). I had 4 scans before 9 weeks as a result. All scans couldn’t find any reason for the bleeding either (I didn’t have cramping). All said bleeding is not common but not unusual. For me the bleeding did slowly reduce and seems to have stopped thankfully at 10 weeks or so. I found that when I couldn’t get seen by the EPU, a private clinic scan was helpful to reassure me and they were also very thorough in looking for the cause of the blood, though costly, after many rounds of ivf I found it worth it to relieve a little stress & worry. I’m sure it has been identified to you that pessaries can cause irritation of the cervix so I quickly switched to using these in the other location incase this was the issue, it didn’t seem to be for me tho. Can I ask which type and quantity of progesterone pessaries you are using?
We started on a lower dose (200 x3 a day) but by accident (the clinic ran out of them) I was given a slightly higher dose (400 x 2 a day) since then. It oddly seemed to correlate with the bleeding and spotting settling down. I’m not sure if this is at all related tho as my clinic don’t measure progesterone at any point in the protocol they just prescribe the standard dose.
Anyway, I do hope some of this is even slightly helpful.
I hope it all settles down for you soon and you can feel more at ease.
Sorry for all the trouble you are having. I'm 18 weeks and 2 days now with twins. At 6 weeks I did a private scan say Saturday, next day I started bleeding, I went to bed before 10 pm it stopped; Monday I booked and saw my GP, and she gave me a letter to go early pregnancy for a scan but when they called they did not ask to come in but said the scan would be Wednesday I was on happy they did not ask me to come, by 3 pm I started bleeding heavily my trousers was sucked this time 9 weeks and was in the bus going; when I got home I shower pad up called ambulance and they took me to the hospital they carried out tests and said in the morning early pregnancy unit will be called which they did and they find out that I was having twins and book another scan in two weeks, but the 6 weeks private scan shows 1 sac. At 17 weeks I bleed again, I went to A & E they assess me and call a gyno from MAU doctor came down and did an examination and both internal and external scans; he said that my cervix is closed and long and the scan shows that the twins are doing well.
I would say don't wait when you are bleeding go to A & E they are good the only thing is that they may not do the scan if is at night but if they call the gyno they may do it. for seeing the midwife I referred myself with the information my GP gave me within two days they booked me in to see them but again it is down to your area. Please go to A & E and don't wait to make sure everything is ok. My next week's appointment was cancelled due to doctors walkout MAU booked me for the appointment so don't wait to go and see them.
