So probably a silly question, I have never been in this situation (did a natural FET last time). This time I got an hcg trigger plus hcg injections as progesterone support. Now, I want to test early but obviously I would still have hcg in my body from the trigger, so it would not be an accurate result. But what about those digital tests that show you how many weeks you are, would that be helpful to me? (It is probably a no). Is there any way to find out before receiving the dreaded phone call from the clinic?

Early testing after hcg trigger
I think a digital test won't be any better than a FRER one.
Only thing you can do if you're really keen to test early is to "test out" the trigger. Start testing super early, watch line fade to nothing, then if a line appears after that and gets darker you know it isn't the trigger 🤞
Hi pink-lemon, I would also test out the trigger and watch the progression on the urine pregnancy tests. I use strip tests from Amazon (Easy@Home but there are others like this with a sensitivity of 10mIU/mL), they are a more affordable option compared to the First Response ones. When I did my mock cycle in January I had to do a pregnancy test prior to the hysteroscopy and it still came up visibly positive from the hCG trigger shot (10,000iU of Gonasi) seven days after taking the trigger shot. In case you receive an hCG flush prior to transfer that could also delay when you will be able to detect a genuine positive on your tests. My consultant recommended to wait 14 days after transfer before doing a urine pregnancy test but they'd be willing to do a blood test from 11 days post transfer if the anxiety gets too overwhelming. What's your clinic's protocol in terms of OTD? Wishing you so much luck! X
Hello DreamingOfTwo, thank you for replying. I think it is too late to order the cheap tests from ebay, our embryo is in as of this morning and just checked and I would only get them in 8-12 days. The dreaded phone call would have come by then. Plus I am getting small hcg shots every 3 days to support progesterone level, so it won’t go down that fast for me. I wish I thought of the tests earlier. Would still give the testing a go regardless. And the only early pregnancy symptom I ever got was extreme hunger on about day 11PO, caused by the raising hcg. But that I already have so that won’t work either Maybe I will just wait if i have a baby in 9 months? Lol
Best to wait until your OTD as anything before that can be wrong and just cause more upset anxiety in the meantime. Try and find something to keep your mind busy, binge watch something, read something, try a new hobby, plan nice treats for yourself and partner. Good luck x
