”testing out” your trigger? Any experience?

hi gals - prepping for my next cycle and am getting hammered with ivf everything on social media. I have seen a few people “testing out” their trigger injection prior to testing for pregnancy.

From what I can tell, some people seem to be testing as their trigger shows hcg, then waiting for it to go less dark or disappear and then start testing again to see if it goes darker again ie pregnant.

Has anyone done this and if so, did you start post trigger or post transfer?

or is this an absolutely ridiculous idea and I should switch off social media 🙈

I waited until my proper test day last two transfers so just exploring if there are any alternatives to keep my mind at ease.

Thank you! X

Hi. I usually advise to take all prescribed medication as advised and test for pregnancy on the correct day. Good luck. Diane

Thanks Holly. Have you done this?

I was considering just testing daily this time but I know the trigger can give false results so think this was described as a way of understanding that process xx

Thanks for your reply! Did you do it from the day after your trigger then and right up to your actual test day? I’m taking two different types of trigger this time around so expecting it to be all over the shop! I would rather do this and know for sure if I then later considered testing early xx

I started testing the day after transfer up until day 15 after trigger.x

I’ve did this once or twice as I am an early tester and a couple of times I haven’t been sure if it’s been the trigger or not and one time not even sure if I had a chemical or the trigger so it can be helpful if you are gonna test early. I started after transfer but not every day until about day 5. If you dont test out the trigger that’s okay too by day 7/8 the test should be pretty reliable of standard trigger 36 hours before egg collection (both my successful ones have been fairly strong lines by this day) so you can just hang on to then or take anything before then with a pinch of salt. Its really personal choice 🤗💜 xx

Thanks so much for this - really helpful! I’ve seen people use the easy at home tests - I’ve used those for ovulation before. Did you use any particular ones? I’ve always just used the clear blue digital on proper test day x

Boots pink dye or FRER for me (the boots ones are reasonably priced and basically the same as the first response)- steer clear of clearblue dye ones at all costs I had some confusing and soul crushing false results with those! As test day approaches I also like a clearblue digital one to tell me in words one way or the other. Good luck! Xx

I started testing the day after transfer and tested every day after that, for me the trigger was completely gone by 3dp5dt. And I started getting a positive again on 6dp5dt. For some people waiting til test day is better but for some like me testing daily works too!

Do what's best for your mental health ❤

I had two transfers and have always waited almost until test day. I think it’s different for everyone but I shut down social media and google and just tried to relax. A loooooot easier said then done but I know myself and constant testing would definitely heighten my anxiety and stress and I didn’t want my embryo to feel that in case it was just making itself comfortable. Wishing you all the best.

Thanks for your reply and well wishes - much appreciated. It’s such a difficult time isn’t it. I had a miscarriage with my last transfer so just exploring options to see if I can manage the process/wait any better than last time. I feel like I might manage better if I know what is happening a bit more ie with trigger. Last time was a frozen transfer so no point in testing early but I don’t really know how I will feel this time until the time comes so just gauging others experiences to hopefully make a more informed decision 🙈 it’s tough isn’t it xx

I am so sorry about the miscarriage. In my experience it is one of the most heartbreaking experiences in life. I really hope your next transfer works. If you think that testing will make it easier then definitely do it! Whatever helps you feel better. 🤗
