Bleeding AGAIN on day 5 after FET transfer

hi All,

Just wanted to come on for some advice I’m on my second round of IVF we had a good graded embryo transferred and Iv started to bleed on day 5. This happened last time which obvs meant it didn’t work but I’m confused as I thought the Pessaries are supposed to suppress your period? Has this happened to anyone? I did think it could be implantation but it’s too heavy to be 😣

I’m sorry to hear about your bleeding.

I had a proper period type bleed 3 days after transfer after my second egg collection too. Clinic did nothing that round (to my frustration) but they did give me Lubion injections and different pesseries in subsequent rounds and I had no extra red bleeding after that. I don’t think I absorb the crinone gel alone very well but the Lubion was fine and I had utrogeston instead in the next rounds.

However, I also had spotting though from 7/8dpt until about 7 weeks pregnant including 2 red bleeds with no cause seen. Hospital called it implantation bleeding but it went on for ages and I was convinced it was all over! It might be just too early to test and to write off the cycle now for you? Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

I know I’m gutted….I mean I haven’t tested I’m due to test Monday but because what happened on my first round I’m just thinking this is a no. So I did ask if I could have injections because I was worried that I wasn’t doing it properly and they were funny about it. I am going to ask to be put on those what you have mentioned actually so was that just injections you had?

Thanks so much for getting back it’s really helped!

after my second round I have lubion once a day injection and utrogeston pesseries 3 times a day. Lubion is a little fiddly first time as you have to draw it up with a carrier needle into the barrel and then change to a fine needle tip but easy once you done it a couple of times.

Best of luck!

I’ve had this a few times and the last few times I’ve had lubion added and that solved it for me so far. I would definitely talk to your clinic about adding it to your meds as some people dont absorb the pessaries as well as others so the injections can help. Mine were hesitant at first (when I was nhs) but now I’m private and paying for it they were quite happy to add 😜 so just keep pushing xx

Yes when I mentioned to my clinic they were so funny about it I even said look il pay! But my sister is a GP and she said I shouldn’t really bleed like that even if it’s negative whilst on the Pessaries which made me think maybe I’m just not absorbing them properly in which case could be stopping the embryo to implant? I will push them this time! The bleeding is getting heavier defo a period 😣

I had this on my second fresh transfer after BFP and sadly was a second chemical. I was on cyclogest and my consultant said that I shouldn't have been able to spot due to the progesterone but I don't think cyclogest was right for me. For my FET I insisted on extra progesterone and a different sort and they put me on utrogestan and lubion - that was successful and I didn't spot but when I tapered off the progesterone around 10 weeks I spotted and it only stopped when I started taking it again. Happened throughout my pregnancy and I had it investigated - hospital said no risk to pregnancy but to keep on with progesterone to stop the spotting and just in case. For my next round my clinic has agreed I can be on utrogestan and lubion again, even though it's not their standard for collections and fresh transfers.

yes there is definitely a running theme here I will ask if I can be placed on injections I would rather do that and least you know it’s being absorbed into the body! Something to rule out. The only thing I would say is after retrieval I did have all the symptoms from the Pessaries like sore boobs, constipated etc so I’m just so confused 😐

Exactly. My doctors said my chemicals on cyclogest vs success on utrogestan and lubion was just chance and it's all a numbers game but I am convinced it was an absorption issue so they've agreed to go along with it this time - it may not work but at least I feel I've tried everything and not left wondering what if. I really hope it's third time lucky for you x

Hi I’m so sorry. Thi happened on my first 2 cycles. The clinic put me in pessaries 3 times a day. Then also added protongest progesterone injections. My first pessaries was cyclogest and then been put on utrogeston. The clinic said the progesterone is spread out more with the 3 times a day x
