Improving Egg Quality

Does anyone have any tips for improving egg quality, especially supplements?I've been told after multiple failed cycles that they believe egg quality is the issue.

My consultant has recommended only one more attempt using my own eggs and then consider egg donation if unsuccessful.

My consultant recommended opti ova female wellness kit - 2 satchet (8 tablets each) daily. I took this 3 months before the injections and up to the point of egg collection. Also worked for my cousin who was diagnosed with low amh.

I’m in my third trimester and she’s just had her baby as I delayed embryo transfer for awhile. I hopes this helps.

Sorry to hear you’ve had an unsuccessful cycle. The book ‘It starts with the egg’ by Rebecca Fett has a lot of science-based advice on improving egg quality and suggests a 3 month period of preparation with supplements and lifestyle changes before starting treatment. Generally CoQ10 (200mg 3 times a day if you’re over 38) and Omega 3 are highly recommended. It may also be worth getting your vitamin D levels tested as a deficiency could impact egg quality.

hey! So I was told I was too old and my eggs would never work, but I wasn’t ready to give up, my clinic in Cyprus told me to try the following supplements

L’arginine

Astaxanthin oil

Myo-inositol complex

Coq 10

Someone on here suggested dhea supplements and I was also taking melatonin

And my next round I got 2 blastocysts 1 now in freezer and one growing nicely in my belly! May have been a coincidence but that’s the only change we made.

Good luck to you!

What is the dosage for each of these please?

Hi gizmo, after two failed cycles I was told I had poor egg quality and to move onto donner eggs but as we wanted to have one more try with my eggs our consultant recommended we both take coenzyme q10 300mg 3 times a day (with each meal) as there is some evidence it can improve follicle numbers, egg quality and sperm quality for at least 3 months before starting cycle. We both also took pregnacare pre conceive daily and they added testosterone gel to the stim stage. I am currently 26 weeks full story on my page. Good luck x

Hi booboo_gizmo, after six IVF's I've just recently had my best cycle at age 44 with 3 good quality hatching blastocysts frozen. For each cycle I took a prenatal, Ovum is a good one based on the book 'It Starts with the Egg' , folate, Omega 3, CoQ, vit D. For the last cycle, I also took DHEA for 3 months beforehand, initially 25mg 3 times a day but I got bloods every 4 weeks and reduced it to once daily as my testosterone and DHEA-s were rising nicely. Ideally you want to get those to levels that women in their twenties are at. I was also recommended to take inositol which surprised me as I thought it was only for women with PCOS which I don't have but do have higher AMH for my age. I've since spoken to a few people who think this made the difference for them. I also took 3mg of Melatonin while injecting stims so from baseline to trigger. I increased the CoQ to three hundred, three times daily. I don't know what made the difference but considering that the two other IVF's I had this year didn't produce blasts at all, this was a much different outcome so it can happen. Give yourself a bit of time to prepare for the next one, see which supplements/diet you think works for you and then at least you'll know you gave it your best shot. Wishing you lots of luck xx

Again I checked my Vit D levels to see what they were like and they were low initially so I started taking the vit d spray with K2 for better absorption, that gives you three thousand iu per day. As my levels rose I took it only every second or third day. The inositol I took was the Zita West one and you take a teaspoon and a half every day dissolved in water.
