Following my last post, I got refunded for about just half of the cycle’s cost, after multiple rounds of complaints over several months.
Unsurprisingly, the clinic is in firm denial of the mistakes they may have made. HFEA doesn’t review clinical decisions. So I feel I am completely on my own.
When things seem to be going smoothly, everyone at the clinic may appear nice. But as soon as something goes wrong, you will see the coldest faces and hear the harshest voices.
The lesson is: don’t be afraid to challenge the clinic’s decisions, and trust you instinct. You know your body the best. Big clinics like CRGH can be like a factory and don’t give enough attention to your individual circumstances. Even the ‘best’ consultants can also make misjudgements.
So if in doubt, always ask questions and challenge their decisions. Take detailed notes and keep evidence throughout your treatment, as they might come in handy one day in defending your rights.
I hope that my clinic has learned a lesson too in improving the quality of care provided by their medical team. I also hope that my tragedy doesn’t happen to anyone else.
