It has been a week since my endometriosis surgery, and I’m still a bit fragile. Both ovaries were stuck and had to be untangled and ‘suspended’ with stitches.
The professor attended to me whilst I was still an inpatient and explained that my left ovary is fused with the fallopian tube. This means that I may not ovulate normally and could find it difficult to conceive.
I would also mention that my hormone profile is indicative of secondary ovarian failure (i.e. the FSH and LH are both low).
I don’t think I’ll be able to conceive naturally, and with the extra complication of type 1 diabetes, I’m feeling a bit hopeless about having children at all…

Oh Aardvarks I'm so sorry to hear about the result of the op. Medical advances are amazing now and while it may not be the journey you were expecting to have a baby, it's definitely something that is still possible just not quite how you expected.Take the time to heal physically and emotionally and then see from your consultant what your options are and then take it from there.
Sending you all the best and lots of luck with your journey xx
Be sure to write every question you have for consultant re your future fertility on paper so you have the complete picture Then you can also ask him what your options are for future fertility treatment
