As part of routine bloods ahead of FET my clinic tested my thyroid. FSH and T4 were very normal but I had evidence of raised TPO antibodies. I’ve read this can lead to miscarriage but have a friend who had the same thing during fertility and was told it’s quite common by endocrinologist and wasn’t put on any treatment as she’d only had 1 miscarriage (as have I + 2 chemicals).
Of note, my vit D and B12 were also a bit high but almost certainly due to all the supplements I’m taking!
Just wondering if anyone has had the same raised TPO during IVF and were you put on treatment or have any issues?
Thanks in advance

Hi GB844, I was diagnosed with thyroiditis on my OTD (BFP). I ended up with hyperthyroidism first and I am now entering the hypothyroidism phase. I have found that the thyroid UK group here on health unlocked is incredibly knowledgeable and willing to help so I would post any queries you might have there together with your full blood results. I don’t know how high your TPO antibodies were, but they can be a sign of thyroid autoimmune conditions such as hashimoto. In terms of your TSH and free T4 the values are ranges and an optimal level of T4 is not just within range but also a certain % within the range. You should also always have your free T3 tested as it goes hand in hand with T4 and thyroid health. Wishing you the best of luck ❤️
Hi. I have hypothyroidism and hashimotos. My antibodies started off at over 1000 when I first had them tested 2 years ago. I had a miscarriage from a natural pregnancy at that time and have since had 3 failed transfers of good quality embryos. No way of knowing if that's to blame or something else. For the last transfer my clinic put me on prednisolone and tacrolimus and my antibodies are now down to 200- unfortunately failed to implant again. This time we're doing the same but I'm also going to have 3 lots of IVIG starting on day of transfer. Agree that the thyroid group on here are excellent - very knowledgeable and so helpful. Happy to answer questions about my treatment if I can. x
Thanks for the replies. I am due to speak to the consultant tomorrow so will see what he says about needing treatment before starting FET. They like TSH between 0.2 and 2.5 in my clinic and mine is 0.29 so not sure they’d start thyroxine, T4 was 16pmol/L. TPO was around 230 or 240 so will see what he says about needing steroids as well.
Hi there.I also have raised TPO antibodies.I have being seeing an endocrinologist for a number of years. The raised TPO antibiotics where only highlighted after doing basic immunology blood tests after a failed first fresh double embryo transfer in March however my endocrinologist was not concerned about the raised level and only concerned with my TSH ,T3 and T4.No adjustment to meds were made as TSH,T3 and T4 were within range.Currently nearly 14 weeks pregnant after another double fresh embryo transfer in September.x
Hi Gerbear22, thanks for this, that’s really reassuring as like you, it’s been picked up by accident. I’ve also just realised my zita west supplements are high in Biotin which can affect TFT results so may need to have a re-test.
Congratulations on your pregnancy!! What have they recommended for monitoring if anything? X
Awh thank you😊. In regard to monitoring me since becoming pregnant I have to get my bloods done every 6 weeks and send them to my endocrinologist for review.Currently on Eltroxin 150mg 4 days a week and 100mg 3 days a week.x
