double trigger or 38hr trigger?

Hello everyone

I am looking to draw upon some experiences please.

My clinic has on this occasion decided to get me to take a double trigger and to wait 38hrs rather than 36 for egg collection. Has anyone ever had this? How did it go? Did it have the intended effect? Thank you x

I think it depends on what's happened for you in the past. Have you had any issues with egg maturity previously or number of eggs? I had a change in protocol at my original clinic (which, if I remember correctly, is the same clinic you're at now). After getting no eggs in my first ever cycle they put me on a 38 hour trigger (instead of 36) but did not give me double trigger. I went from no eggs to six eggs, could have been a combination of the trigger timing and the change in drugs. I do think the 38 hour trigger can increase the chance of ovulating before you've had egg collection so in your position I'd want to just go through this risk with the clinic xx

Thank you, that’s very useful. I will check this with the clinic actually. If I can ever get a straight response and one that is timely from this clinic 🙄

They wanted to push me a little bit longer to try and give some of the eggs time to mature as last time there were some empty follicles they said and also not all the eggs collected had matured.

Hi wool. Probably would be down to follicle size. If they are slow to grow, then perhaps do a later trigger. Get your embryologist to explain fully what his/her intentions are and why. Good luck! Diane

hi I haven’t had any experience of 38 hour trigger but did have a double trigger on my second round which really helped. 1st round had 10 eggs only 6 mature and zero fertilisation. 2nd round with double trigger 7 eggs collected all matured 100% fertilised and 5 x day 5 blasts so the double trigger definitely helped us. Wish you the best of luck xxx

hey newbies. Aww I’m pleased to hear the double trigger helped! Do you mind me asking if you did anything different the second time around? Also which stimulation drug did you take? I’m on ovaleap.

thank you. What dose of ubiquinol did you take? As this has been an ongoing dilemma for me and I’ve been taking 200mg but recently increased to 400mg
