just wanted to ask a question, this is not something I would normally ask because I don’t normally consider it as I take 0 intake of alcohol. I never drink as I’m so busy with life and my toddler that it doesn’t interest me however, on Monday I am going to Amsterdam for my partners 30th and also my 34th birthday. I’m really looking forward to it but I don’t want to put a dampener on the week by not having a few drinks.
I looked at the holiday as a break but now I’m wishing I didn’t book so close to my FET. I don’t want to ruin it for my partner. Do you think I will be okay to have a few drinks? I am such a light weight when I do drink as I don’t drink so I only need a fair few to make me feel merry. Do you think this is okay or should I just avoid all alcohol. My transfer is prob not going to be for another few weeks but I’m also scared it will have an effect on my womb lining.
Any advice please. ❤️❤️

I personally think one drink every now and then, as long as you aren't on stims or in the 2ww, would be fine. Of course not too much, but a glass of wine or a cocktail would be fine xxx Hope you have a lovely time and good luck with your transfer xx
thanks for your reply, I did think the same as long as it’s not after transfer I should be okay, I don’t binge drink anyways lol such a light weight, it’s a good thing tho as it’s a cheap night out lol. I’m nervous for embryo transfer as we are transferring one of our lower grades which is a 3BB. All my other transfers have been in the higher rage. Hope you’re well xxx
Same as you, I rarely drink but this sounds like such a special occasion I would feel free to enjoy yourself. As you say, it will only take one or two drinks to really have a good time (and you can alternate with non-alcoholic to pace yourself). I don’t think that would have an effect on your womb lining at all. Have a great trip! xx
yeah just check the leaflet as they fight say to me. But also I had to hide the fact I was going away. My clinic also didn’t tell me about reducing caffeine or anything f else I already know now, useless!
I would agree with the above. During my FET transfers I would drink alcohol very occasionally when on the progynova (as in maybe one or two glasses of wine a week) and then stop altogether once implanted. Enjoy your trip, it’s great that you’re still booking stuff and living your life despite ivf!
thanks for your reassurance, it’s nice to know that others let themselves go a little as well when on this journey as it’s hard enough as it is. I sometimes think some people get pregnant regardless of what they do to their bodies so I shouldn’t be so hard on myself, but it’s hard because getting pregnant isn’t just EASY for us is it 😔
it’s such a personal decision! I’m on to my fourth FET (implantation tomorrow 🤞🤞🤞) and I’ve done the t total thing and the occasional drink and they’ve all ended the same - chemical pregnancies. You don’t know how long you’re going to be on this « journey » and you need to continue to celebrate life, weddings, birthdays … otherwise you go crazy. Wishing you all the luck and good vibes xxx
I’d say for a FET a few won’t harm you as the embryo is already made 🤗 the FET that worked for me I had a pretty big night out about 3 weeks before it (compared to others that didn’t work where I was t-total) so not defo didn’t affect things for us. Enjoy Amsterdam it will be lovely this time of year xx
oh wow 😯 this is lovely to hear congratulations , I will try and be a little less hard on myself, like I said I don’t do it all the time so I might just let my hair down a little.
Thanks for your reply and I hope your all well xxx
think I had some wine when I was growing my lining. It made no difference. What is strange is that on fertility alcohol isn’t that bad but caffeine is much more of a fertility offender. A good happy mental health and stress free is also good - I think stress is the worst, caffeine next and not even sure alcohol is that offensive to fertility although later can cause fetal alcohol syndrome. So I’d say go for it. Good for mental health and happy birthday!
Read the progynova leaflet on possible interactions. I seem to remember there were counter-indications for alcohol. If you are just on down regulation drugs at the moment, that should be all right.
I had a bit of a wild July/ beginning of Aug including an all inclusive holiday and best friends wedding among other things. I stopped drinking about 10days before transfer on 1st Sept. Our little embryo stuck and I’m now 12weeks pregnant. I got to the point in all this fertility malarkey that I decided I wasn’t putting my life on hold anymore. ❤️ What will be will be xxx
