Hi lovely ladies. Just got my blood test results. My Thyroid begginning of 2022 was 4.8, i started levothyroxine then in june 0.23,so asked my Gp if i should continue Thyroid medication said maybe stop if levels are ok n redo blood test which i did last week and its flipping 4.7. I know it should be below 2.5. My vitamin b12 and prolactin levels are abnormal. Was to start fertility treatment next week after a scan but now all this just dont know what to do. I can restart Thyroid medication but i dont have any symptoms of Thyroid itself. Suppose will need to speak to the Dr. Prolactin levels are less than 7. Is this still ok to concieve x

Oh that is annoying. There is a Tyroid group on this forum and while not linked to fertility theres some good advice on there about keeping levels down. My experience was it was suggested if you have a significant tyroid issue you should be continuing with levothyroxine even once levels are low but sadly GPs only believe its an issue once over an amount which makes it hard to get the prescription or blood test done.

I'd go back on the medication as there are studies that suggest below 2.5 will help fertility and could by the time of transfer it's low enough. Or your clinic might suggest to delay a month. I know thats disappointing but could give you reaasurance that you've done everything possible to prepare. Understand you'd just rather crack on so totally your choice what you think is best for you.

Good luck and wishing you all the best xx

Hi Mikkie, I agree with Purple276 about the Thyroid UK group. They are incredibly knowledgeable and helpful so I would post there (I am suffering from subacute thyroiditis and they gave me good advice). I believe most private IVF clinics want the TSH to be below 2.5 though NHS ones might not be as strict. Unfortunately TSH alone is not enough to fully understand the situation as TSH adjusts based on your levels of Free T4 and T3. Did you have these tested when your TSH was elevated and now? If so the thyroid group will be able to help you interpret them (not enough to just be within the very broad ranges). Also were you tested for thyroid antibodies to rule out some autoimmune conditions that can cause thyroid issues ? Wishing you lots of luck ❤️

Hi Mikkie. Your thyroid levels are fine if not trying to conceive, but as you are, it is usually lowered to around 2.5 and kept at that level. I would speak to your clinic/GP re taking levothyroxine again. Good luck! Diane

Hey Mikkie, once you are on the levo you need to maintain it. Stopping the meds will no doubt see your levels rise. Normally if you advise your GP about your Fertility treatment they understand the requirement for a lower level than 4.

Good luck on your journey
