Diet when trying to conceive?

Hi everyone! I am wondering if anyone has any advice regarding dietary changes when TTC? There seems to be a lot of newer information regarding the "fertility" diet. Here is a great article which discusses this: mamasconnected.com/post/is-...

Did anyone follow this diet and have success? Other diets? Thanks in advance!

Hi jjbean. My suggestions as follows for a good pre-conception diet. Carbohydrates - Wholegrain bread and wholemeal pasta, oatmeal, brown rice. All fresh vegetables especially raw or steamed. Over boiling rids them of vitamins and minerals, pineapple juice, apricots, potatoes, all fruit and honey, beans, chickpeas and lentils. Protein - Organic meat if possible, poultry, fish, Milk and hard cheese, nuts and seeds. Fat - Extra virgin olive oil and sunflower oil, avocado and peanut butter, mackerel, sardines, nuts (especially Brazil and walnuts), seeds, sweet corn and sweet potatoes. The things to avoid are too much sugar, processed foods, ready meals, butter, ice cream etc. A little is OK, but not all the time. Drink plenty of water and only a little tea and coffee if feeling deprived. Cut right down or right out – alcohol and smoking. Oh and don’t forget the Folic Acid and Vitamin D! Diane

Sorry to jump in, but how much Vitamin D should you be taking Diane? I had some pretty high strength tablets but too much also isn't good...

Sorry to jump in, also, but 1000-2000 IUs should be max, if you take too much it causes the body to go into vitamin D breakdown mode, and you can actually end up with lower numbers than what you started with. Also, if you are able to, when you do blood tests ask them to check the active form of D3,  1,25-dihydroxy-vitamin.

Oh nooo ! I will ask, thankyou that's really helpful! I used to be really deficient so hopefully I've not buggered my levels up even more! x
