Variation of follicle numbers on modified natural? Or has my luck ran out?

I only have 4 follicles and am 42. I've had 2 cycles with traditional ivf where we were lucky to get 1 embryo to transfer each time but no success. My 3rd cycle we tried modified natural and managed to get 3 mature eggs but only one fertilised. It had to be frozen as my lining was not thick enough (Clomifene) but we did eventually get it transferred but sadly no success again.

Im now on my 4th and final cycle (we're out of funds) and doing modified natural again. On my day 6 scan we were devastated to only see 1 follicle and so the cycle was cancelled. I've spent the last 2 weeks trying to recover from the shock and mentally prepare myself to try again in our next cycle. They suggested this time I take only Clomifene then 6 days then they will scan to see if any other follicles have 'come forward'. (As the early blood test initially looked fine but apparently this is not always a good indication).

I know that I have been very lucky to have had 1 embryo to return each cycle so far considering my circumstances. But not sure if this is the end of the road for us now. Has anyone else had experience like this? The doctor said this can happen sometimes and we might get a better response next time.

hi, I’m sorry the cycle was cancelled, that’s very disappointing but doesn’t have to be the end of the road if you want to keep going? Would you consider traditional IVF again? I only ever had 1 embryo each time to transfer like you and it eventually worked after my third cycle. I only had 3 eggs retrieved and one that fertilised normally but that one was enough to be successful. Go with what you feel is right for you. I know it’s such a hard time with tough decisions, 🍀

Thank you. We're going to try again with the modified natural to see if that works. The traditional ivf seemed to not result in quality eggs which is why they suggested the modified natural. Im so glad to hear that you had success out of 3 eggs collected to. It does give me some hope.
