5th round of IVF

Hi all,

My IVF journey is really long. I'm doing 5th ivf and I'm 39. You probably think I'm nuts..  but I only managed to get pregnant during 4th attempt.. (lost it tho in week 12)  this has prompted me to try once again. 5th time and last.

Started off so well, 8 eggs collected, but then just gone downhill. 4 fertilised, one made it to blastocyst. Transferred 3BB.

Unfortunately 3DP5DT started spotting brown ish discharge. Thought its an implantation but  it is not as of today 9DP5DT sporting more bright red. I'm already on 3 x ultrogestan and  lubion injection once a day as on my first tranfer I got period  before even testing so they increased progesterone intake. Called clinic today, didn't get any advice apart from the fact to wait till my test day which is on Sunday. Acdording to them i got now enough progesteron now.

I'm freaking out. didn't expect to bleed while on additional progesterone....

Done test on 7DP5DT in the middle of the day ...looks negative, there is extremely fainted positive line....or it isnt and i just want to see it.... I only tested because I thought spotting could be due to early misscariage.

Any ideas ladies? I'm now pretty much convinced it's menstrual even though I'm on additional progesterone:(

I am absolutely gutted as its my last round and its over for me. Im really upset my clinic will not check my blood to mske sure progesteron levels.

My journey with IVF is going for 5 years....my life revolve around this. I am now just sso exhausted and i think my depression progressed during this time.

Iam so sorry for such a long post 😪

Thanks xxx

sendings lots of support your way, it’s very tough and your not nuts.

It could be implantation bleeding, I’d get a blood test on your official test day, you’ll know better what situation is then.

I’m so sorry it’s such a tough journey. But you’re not nuts at all, we are all her doing something similar, even if the details are different…. Sending you strength and hope for some good news 💫🙏💪

Personally I dont know anyone who is struggling to get pregnant. All my friends say they cannot even imagine what i am going through . Only over here, online, i found the biggest support, thank you 😘

Same here…I’ve got a lot friends and relatives, possibly over a hundred, and literally everyone got pregnant. One of them got her 4th child a few months ago, two of them got their 3rd…I’m the only one. So I totally get how you feel.

I know it’s sucks, 5 years. For me it’s been 8. But I recently heard of a couple who was trying for 12 years…and now they got two beautiful babies. Hang in there!

I’m so sorry to hear this and I’m hoping for a positive outcome. It’s such a hard and brutal journey. I would say if you can take some comfort from the fact you did get pregnant. I’m not sure of your circumstances but I would say it sounds like you need some time out if this does turn out to be a negative. You are still young ( honestly! I’m a lot older than you) so there is still lots of time if and when you are able to think about it again. You are most definitely not nuts at all. It’s a really tough journey and I think everyone on here just gets it.

Dear, is it ok to ask how old you are? I just turned 40 and I’m freaking out…my husband keeps saying ‘it’s over, you’re just too old.’ 😡🤦‍♀️😭

Oh, dear Puhi, im so sorry to hear what your husband said. I am just about to turn 39 next month so im pretty much your age, but i have an amazing support from my hubby. He always says to me im still young, that many ladies in their 40s get preganant even naturally so its never too late for us.

There are plenty amazing storries over here. There was a post from one lady over 40 and she was devastated as she only got 1 egg after egg collection. I even tried to give her some courage and said "you only need one". She never replied to any post so suspected it didnt turn out well....then noticed her post few months later that she is 6 months pregnant with that 1 egg 🧡 miracles do happen....xxx

you can have a private progesterone blood test if you are really curious about your levels or you can even order online a finger prick. I also had spotting since day 5 post transfer and everything was fine, I have now twins. Fingers crossed for you ☺️

Medicheck is doing it online, I added the link above. I did with them progesterone and beta HCG.

Congratulations about twins. Such a lovely news 🙂 I should have done tests myself, but I simply didnt think of that. Already paying clinic so many ££££ and i thought surely they know better than me ;( i should have put this post so much sooner....

I was also on the same doze of progesteron during my 4th attempt and FET transfer and had no issues at all wih progesteron level nor didnt have period pain. Perhaps every cycle is diffrenet...i dont know.

thank you! I can totally understand you, definitely is frustrating after paying so much money, a simple blood test is just peanuts compared to what we paid overall to the clinic, they should have done this at your request. Indeed all the cycles are so different, I was always spotting before my OTD 😤. Having even the faintest line means you are receptive in receiving embryos. If I was you probably I would have considered PGS testing, chances are so high at any age. Sending you a big hug 🤗 stay strong

ladies, my OTD today, 11DP5DT and i got faint line. What does it mean ? Chemical ? Is that the reason why im spotting ?

I didn't start spotting until I stopped my progesterone when we had our chemical. It could just be that your levels are taking a little while to get to where they need to be or indeed that this little one isn't meant to be. regardless, a line is line right now, maybe try again on Tuesday so you can see if the line progresses ❤️🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼my tests were usually darker in the evening for some reason. I wish you all the best xxx
