4+2 but feeling awful - tonsillitis 😢 has anyone had antibiotics this early and all been ok?

hi ladies,

Me again! So sorry for taking up the feeds the last few days but I find the help on here just so comforting.

So I tested positive on Monday (not getting hopes up as it was not overly strong lines and I’ve had two early miscarriages). Clinic have asked me to test again later this week.

I’ve been taking steroids for this round so my immune system has been floored. Yesterday afternoon out of nowhere I felt really warm and my throat started getting very sore quickly. I took some paracetamol but have been awake literally all night with pain!

Went to the doctors this morning and he thinks I have tonsillitis 😢 prescribed me 10 days of antibiotics (apparently pregnancy safe).

I just wondered if anyone has been in a similar boat and all been ok? I already feel this poor pregnancy is doomed with everything as I felt the hormone surges I had at the weekend, they’ve now gone the last two days. No cramps, no sore boobs - literally nothing 😢 xx

I just wanted to say I really hope everything goes ok. I had a cyst early in my pregnancy that required antibiotics and it didn't effect my pregnant at all, I had to take them again towards the end of the pregnant too and everything was ok.

Don't be hard on yourself! Also, I never felt a single symptom after my FET and I was sure it'd failed, I didn't feel pregnant at all, so try not to rely on that too much!

I have never been pregnant however if the doctor suggested antibiotics I would go ahead. I think dealing with an infection that might spread to the blood if not treated well and early on will have more adverse affects than a safety prescribed antibiotics. I know a lot of preg women who had antibiotics prescribed and ddid not develop harmful effects on their babies. Try to stay calm xxx

first of all congratulations 🎉 sorry to hear you are feeling so poorly and hope you feel better soon. Easy for me to say but try not to worry they wouldn't prescribe them if they weren't safe. I had terrible sinuses with my baby very early into my pregnancy - she is now 7 months old and asleep on me! She is also my rainbow baby after 3 losses It is very scary being pregnant after miscarriages but there is nothing to suggest this pregnancy couldn't be successful. Best advice is take if one day at a time. Also I bled very heavily with all 3 of my children! Totally possible to see blood and all be ok! Some women just do ( they never established a cause for it with me) Xx

I had to take antibiotics for a UTI when pregnant. I was really hesitant about taking them but my doctor prescribed me penicillin which had been in use since at least the 60s so they knew it was fine in pregnancy. She also told me that not taking antibiotics for a UTI could cause problems for my baby. Everything was fine at that stage. I did later miscarry but that was a few weeks later and totally unrelated to the UTI or antibiotics. Hope you feel better soon Xx
