I’m currently waiting for a 6 week pregnancy to pass naturally. I’ve had around 4-5 days of bleeding with some clots with the last couple of days being rather light and yesterday / today no bleeding at all, so went to the docs to see if all had passed & hasn’t, my lining is 17mm and majority of the sac is still there. I know I need to be patient but I don’t understand why the bleeding has stopped. Is it normal during a miscarriage for bleeding to come and go?
my doc is saying no point coming back to her until I’ve passed a lot more blood / clots & to chat again in a couple weeks. I’m just firstly concerned about infection & secondly what if I don’t bleed in that time, I don’t want to prolong this! She doesn’t want to do surgery.
Hoping bleeding will come back soon, appreciate your advice 🙏🏼

Hi, I'm so sorry for what you're going through, it's certainly not easy. I had a missed miscarriage at 9 weeks back in April. I think it's normal for the bleeding to come and go. I too had lots of bleeding with clots and hospital told me to take a pregnancy test after 3 weeks and if it was negative then they considered the miscarriage complete. I tested after 3 weeks and was negative. It wasn't until I was starting my next IVF cycle in June that at my baseline scan they found the miscarriage wasn't complete. Thankfully after my next period after the scan everything remaining seemed to pass naturally. It's such a worrying time wondering what's going on so I understand how you feel. I would stay in touch with your doctor and take care and be kind to yourself. Sending lots of love and strength to you ❤️
Hi, I am so sorry to hear your sad news.I suffered a missed miscarriage last year, I found out at my scan at around 6 weeks & 5 days and was sent home to try and pass it naturally during that time I bleed intermittently and at times very heavy with large clots. I was advised to take a pregnancy test 2 weeks later which was positive so returned to my fertility clinic where a scan showed the sac was still there and I was measuring at over 9 weeks & 5 days. They then wrote me a referral to the early pregnancy unit who gave me the option of the tablets or surgical management and I opted for surgical straight away. I was in 4/5 days later for the surgery.
It seems so unfair that we have to go through this process at such an awful time. Thought I’d share my experience in case it provides any reassurance or your doctors advice.
Hi Kit. So sorry to hear this. Just a case of a waiting game. If nothing happens naturally, perhaps you may need some medication to help. Thinking of you. Diane
Thanks Diane, do you know much about the meds? My doc offered me this today if I want it but I’m nervous. Are there any risks associated? Is it painful? Do you know how long it lasts? Thank you for your message ❤️ Xxxx
