Has anyone had an egg collection cancelled on the day due to bmi being too high?
Obviously I was weighed when I started my journey with this clinic and on my third round I was a couple of pounds heavier than I should be at collection but nothing was said. I am now concerned about collection this week as I am several pounds heavier than last time and I have this constant thought that my cycle will be cancelled before collection because I am too heavy.
Has anyone got any experience with this? They will weigh me on the day as they need to work out sedation levels.
I also eat healthy and only 2 meals a day with a snack which is usually fruit. I have battled with my weight for so long that it has a huge part in my life weighing me down. I cannot lose enough weight no matter what I try.

I’m private which may make a difference but no-one has weighed me? We don’t have nhs provision where I live. My bmi is about 32ish at the moment but I struggle a lot to lose it. I think it depends on your clinic but mine aren’t too pedantic.
I am private too, bmi should be below 35 according to most clinics in England. It is something I have struggled with for so long and after each round I gain due to hormones so getting it back off again is almost impossible.
Do they not weigh you on egg collection for calculating sedation amount?
My weight always goes up during treatment as I run 5 -10k a day but stop during treatment as I have been advised running everyday is not good I always stop. My clinic weighted me at the start of stims and gave me a lecture about my weight as it was 3 pounds above the NHS threshold and told me they would weigh me on next scan which they did and I was still above the NHS threshold but they didn't cancel my cycle just gave me another lecture about it. Hopefully your clinc will do the same. Fingers crossed for you.
Thank you! Bmi is so old fashioned, it needs scraping. At least they didn’t cancel. I’m more than 3lbs heavier though but it’s private so fingers crossed.
They would be very cruel to start you on stims and have you pay for all the meds, and than cancel it! I’m sure that won’t happen. If they started you, they have to follow through. Everyone puts on weight during stims due to bloating and effects of hormones, they can’t take your weight at the end of stims as your true weight!I’ve never been weighed in the entire process of IVF, and they didn’t weigh me for sedation at egg collection, even though I’m 6’1” so must weigh a lot more than the average woman. So I don’t think they need to calculate the sedation dose that accurately.
Thank you, I agree, would be so cruel! It’s just so hard to listen to them talk about weight as if it’s super easy to shift.
I remember my first consultant saying, oh you’re only a couple of pounds away from the limit, just eat healthy for a couple of days and that will fall off… little did she know I have an extremely healthy eating habit and I had lost 18lbs that year!
Thank you for reassurance. I like these clinics that don’t weigh you…. I have never heard of them!
