I’ve been a bit quiet on here recently after my first IVF round was cancelled prior to egg collection due to lack of response. (I have lots of follicles they just refuse to grow). I’m currently on day 10 of my second round and despite a higher menopur dose it seems that my follicles have once again stopped growing at 10mm. I’m to continue until Friday if there is no change then it will once again be cancelled.
I’m pretty down to be going through this again. 2 and a half years of TTC, 6 months of letrozole where I never ovulated and now 2 rounds of cancelled IVF before egg collection. I haven’t even got off the starting blocks. 😢
If anyone has any advice or hope for me please let me know as at this point I’m feeling completely hopeless.

Thank you for replying. I haven’t had any answers yet. If this cycle gets cancelled I think I’ll request a meeting with the doctor to discuss future treatments.
I’m so, so sorry to hear this. Let’s just hope that they get a wriggle on by Friday, it’s not over yet and they may have caught up by then. Have you got access to any counselling? Thinking of you and I have everything crossed you get good news on Friday xx
Yeah I’m already attending the counselling. Thank you so much for replying. The clinic seem a bit confused by the whole thing too. I need all the luck I can get!!
I really do feel for you, I've had a cancelled cycle due to low response converted to iui and then a cycle after that which they wanted to cancel due to one lead follicle. I had nothing to transfer as it failed to fertilise normally my round after that was only 2 eggs, one fertilised and one embryo back in but a negative. Next round should be starting monday change of drugs this time menopur to gonal f. I asked for low stims as I believe with high stims they are frying us but they refused. After this round il be changing clinics to try lower dose stim.
Dont give up but ask what can be changed, I didn't ask soon enough and one cancelled cycle is enough for anyone. Take care Xx
Hi, I can't offer a solution I'm afraid but I know exactly how you feel. Our last attempt was cancelled too and it's pretty awful when you are contemplating the next round with all the costs and hopes involved. Our next attempt will start this month so hopefully it will be better but it's hard to galvanise yourself and get into the right frame of mind. That being said, it's not over until it's over and you may have just one or two that make it - it really only does just take one so there is still hope x
Thank you for replying and for your kind and thoughtful words. I'm pretty much certain that this cycle is going to be cancelled and I have come to terms with it now. Hopefully we'll have some answers or different plans for the next cycle.
Best of luck for your next cycle. I'll be sending you all the positive vibes and keeping everything crossed for you.
I was in the same boat last year I had one cancelled just before Christmas as I wasn’t responding as I should they couldn’t fit another on in before Christmas so had to wait until the beginning of this year to start again and that one was cancelled again. I was so upset I couldn’t understand why my body wasn’t doing what it should with the medication. So my 3rd cycle they bumped up the menopur and I was scanned a lot to make sure I wasn’t being over stimulated. I finally made it to egg collection day where they found that I was over stimulated which was quite dangerous and made me feel really ill. With this happening they couldn’t book me in for a transfer as I had to have my body calm down before it was safe to do a transfer. That was 2 months ago. I was frustrated when things were getting cancelled and never thought I’d make it to egg collection but I did and you will too you. They will just be taking it slow with increasing meds coz they can make you ill. Which I can understand now. I hope all goes well for Friday ❤️
Thank you so much for taking the time to respond. It is honestly so helpful to hear of ladies who have been through similar circumstances, especially if they have managed to get to egg collection and beyond!
Also the way it totally takes it’s toll all the meds and the hopes just to find out it’s not worked.
What stage are you at now? Did you have the transfer?
( I don’t know if this reply is for me coz I’m getting used to the lay out of the page) I have had to wait around 2 months for my body to calm right down and then to get ready again for transfer. I’ll be having a frozen transfer on Friday and to be honest I’m bricking it now. But relieved that I’ve finally got there. X
That's wonderful news! I'll keeo everything crossed for the next two weeks for you!

Hello xx
I have been in a similar situation, with over half my eggs being immature. It is very frustrating and I can only imagine what you are going through.
I have consulted with over 10 doctors and they all say the same thing: never do the same protocol twice. It sounds like you need a fresh approach. Most of the doctors will tell you that your egg quality should be FANTASTIC because you are so young of your egg so a lack of mature eggs is down to the protocol/medication.
A few suggestions from doctors I have consulted about immature eggs:
1) Much longer period of stimulation
2) Don't use Menopur (it doesn't help with quality)
3) Use a milder approach over a longer period of time
4) ...some also suggest using a growth hormone to boost the egg development, but this is debated.
Have you tried Invitro oocyte Maturation (IVM)? This is a special technique for PCOS and maturity. Some blurb below:
"IVM is the maturation of eggs through their removal during an immature stage, where they are taken to a lab and fertilized before implantation. With Modulator IVM, the primary focus is ensuring that the cells surrounding the egg are giving it the proper energy to fertilize."
If I were you, I would ask your doctor all this stuff and if he or she doesn't dramatically change your protocol, go elsewhere. Don't panic - you are very young and have good quality eggs, I think you just need a new approach xx
You are dead on, ever since I started my fertility clinic journey every doctor has told me this should be straight forward. I think I took that more to heart than I realised. With the result that every letrozole round when my body refused to ovulate, and now IVF cycle when my follicles refuse to grow I’m getting upset as it is a sense another unexpected twist.
Thank you for your suggestions I will definitely bring them up if this cycle gets cancelled.
Best of luck with your own journey. Have you decided on a Greek clinic yet?
Sorry to hear what you're going through.i would give it a few more days sometimes things are slow to grow. Has your amh been checked ? My amh is low and first cycle I was on the highest dose possible I had about 9 follicles but only one grew.
The second cycle we were recommended to do a low dose cycle (natural modified ) it takes longer nearly 3 weeks but we had all follicles grow that time and got 5 eggs. Sadly no positive though.
I'm hoping things will grow for you by Friday - it can and does change that quickly. If not do ask your clinic about other protocol options
I have lots of eggs but they are getting stuck and not growing after 10mm. I am on the lower side of menopur dosing as they are worrying about OHSS.
Thank you for taking the time to comment and advise. I am definitely going to speak to the doctor if this cycle gets cancelled on Friday (I suspect it will as my tummy is actually getting less bloated 😞). I’m really sorry to hear about your BFN and wish you all the luck in the future!
