Holiday and delaying treatment

My partner and I go on holiday in the middle of August which means if we start down regging on my next period, then scans and transfer would most likely clash with being away (we are with NHS). Will I be able to just ask them to delay it for one month or will it seem like I’m prioritising a holiday over treatment? We booked it last year and it’s for my partners 40th and we’ve had an awful year with our last round so it would be lovely to get away but also just want to start our next cycle too! Might they be able to manipulate certain stages so we can still start on my next period and plan it around the hol? Has anyone else ever had this?

Waiting a month should be no problem. Given the backlogs they'll probably be grateful! Otherwise you could delay the start date of your period with the pill if they are willing to prescribe that. Once you've started I don't think it would be possible to manipulate the dates.

Have a lovely holiday and good luck xx

Thanks so much. I hadn’t thought of taking the pill, I’ll see what they say as I have a follow up appt soon xx

We are having a similar issue - we are private this time as I couldn't wait for NHS.

We are opting to go for the FET in Sept but I might take some of the meds needed as I think I need to start injecting on my trip....

It's our only holiday and desperately needed. I figured it might benefit me anyway to be more relaxed.

X

Absolutely! Plus we sacrifice so much as it is. I can’t wait to have some proper relaxation and some sun on my skin. Wishing you lots of luck for September and hope you have a wonderful holiday when it arrives x

We have delayed rounds for holidays before and my clinic positively recommended it - they want you to be relaxed and in a good frame of mind!

Yeah definitely fine to wait. I did the same thing last year as wanted to enjoy my holiday without being on copious amounts of drugs! It’s your choice when you start. Good luck! Xx

Yeah that should be fine, they just say phone up with the next period that you are ready so if that’s not this one but the next one then they will be fine with that. They can’t really manipulate around your hols at certain stages, I had to fly home a couple of days earlier before for an appointment xx

Yes you’re definitely fine to wait. I’ve actually had my nurses encourage a break etc with all that’s been going on in the world you should be able to enjoy a holiday! Have a lovely time xx

I had the same problem as I was due to be In France when my period was due. It was only clashing by a few days as needed be back for the baseline scan. They gave me norethisterone to delay the period till I got back.
