I’m sorry you’re so worried lovely! I’ve never been pregnant yet so I can’t really offer any advice but if the sonographer has said not to worry I’d trust that, I’m not sure how much they’d be able to see from just an abdominal at 7 weeks, especially if your last one was transvaginal. Could you ask for a transvaginal one instead to put your mind at ease? Hopefully someone with a bit more experience will offer some help but just wanted to send you lots of love and try not to worry (easy for me to say I know) xxxx
Thankyou for replying hun I'm waiting on EPAU To ring me back was just wondering if anyone else has ever experienced this and there be good news or if I'm being stupid x
Thats fair to early to have a stomach scan hun . That's terrible they didn't do a internal one for you to put your mind at rest . I'm sure little one is fine . Have a internal one instead xx
They wouldn't do a vaginal one we paid £50 and now I'm just heart broken Googling and searching for miracles x our transvaginal last Friday was 5 week 6 days strong heart beat and then today abdominal nothing just a sack nothing inside
So sorry this has happened😞😞 like Rainbow22 has said it's way too early to have an abdominal scan. That's awful they've taken your money, made you worry and not done anything to alleviate the stress they've caused you! Hope you get a scan with EPAU asap and that provides some reassurance. Sending big hugs xxxx
I'm surprised they've done an abdominal scan so early as everything is still so tiny - we're talking millimeters here. Hope EPU can squeeze you in soon so you can see what's really going on in there. Hope everything's ok. I know there's no point saying don't worry, as I know you won't relax until you get an answer, but I honestly think it's just too early for an abdominal scan to pick everything up xxx
I think because my friend who is same in weeks had a scan yesterday and saw everything on abdominal and today I've seen nothing it's just broke my heart a little
This sounds very distressing and I'm not sure they should have given you an abdominal scan this early - I find vaginal scans painful so would have been very glad to have avoided them but the private scanning place I went to was absolutely clear that they would only do transvaginal until 10 weeks even though I'd had several scans with them. I think they will do them even later than that if they can't see well on the abdominal one. I hope you can get some reassurance from the EPU or even find another private place and ask them to do transvaginal.
Thankyou for replying just patiently waiting on epau now but can't get my head around there being nothing but a sack surely it can't just disappear when we had a baby with a heart beat a week ago
Hi huuny! You shouldn't be worried. 2 months ago I started having some brown discharge at 11 weeks so I went for a private scan and they couldn't see the baby from an abdominal one so they did a transvaginal one and unfortunately his heart stopped at about 8 weeks. So it's hard to see the baby at 7 weeks. At the abdominal one when they tried to find him, I could only see the gestational sack. I hate when clinics make this mistake and make you go crazy about this kind of things. They are sometimes so insensitive about how fragile we can be, especially going through IVF. You should be calm and I'm sure your little bean is just growing and staying cozy.
I think it also depends on which may your womb tilts. We only had a trans vaginal scan at 7 and 8 weeks but I did have an abdominal scan on my ovaries years ago and they couldn’t see anything because I have a retroverted uterus. I have massive pcosy ovaries that are very clear on trans vaginal scans. so I wouldn’t be surprised if they can’t see anything abdominally given how tiny everything is. Keeping fingers crossed for you.
That's so so early for an abdominal scan. Please don't worry, at 7 weeks it took a few minutes to find anything on my internal scan, we are talking millimetres here, so tiny like the size of a poppy seed! How the sonograpjer expected so see that through an abdominal scan is beyond me! They really shouldn't have done that and it would get anyone worried but totally discount that scan it was way too early, but I've never heard of an abdominal scan at 7 weeks, the earliest a private clinic will do it is 10 weeks and even then they say you might night the trans vaginal one to see anything. X
Gosh how stressful. This is really poor from the private clinic. If they couldn't see abdominal they should have then checked transvaginally to make sure. If they didn't have the facilities then they shouldn't be scanning. I'm really hoping that all is OK and it was just a bad sonographer. I don't want to get your hopes up too much though. Hugs.xxx
I had a transvaginal scan at 8+1, because the sonographer said it was early.I would really ask for my money back, and leave a negative review to these scammers.
As others have said, this is too early to see anything reliably via an abdominal scan. If the clinic refused to do a transvaginal scan, I would request your money back and/or make a complaint. They should have made it really clear to you before the scan if they would only do abdominal and that they may not be able to see anything so that you could make an informed decision whether or not to go ahead with it. My early scan at 8 weeks was done transvaginally; they did do abdominal first and could sort of see something but said they needed to do it transvaginally, which they had already told me before they started, to have a proper look and see the heartbeat. xx
Sorry to hear you have had a worrying scan, I hope you get an EPU scan very soon. Best practice for ultrasound is to start trans abdominally due to the larger field of view then proceed to transvaginal for fine detail if required. Sometimes 7 week images are clear through the abdomen depending on full bladder womb tilt etc and other times a TVScan is needed for a variety of reasons e.g. tummy gas etc. Just a word of warning to everyone out there. It is my understanding that In UK private clinics anyone can call themselves a sonographer and use an ultrasound machine with no registration or qualifications. It is always worth asking if your Sonographer is HCPC registered or RCM registered then you know they have active qualifications in ultrasound. All the best Kieneyl, I hope you get some answers very soon.xx
