Anyone ever had an infection after a failed transfer?
I had a pretty traumatic transfer where they struggled to get catheter in, then used a firmer one, which took a while and took some effort. I've pretty much been in pain since. Had my negative test on test day, then a really heavy bleed but still in pain. Sharp stabbing pains on my left side. Was slightly worried about ectopic but still testing negative. Clinic have been shit and keep fobbing me off saying its normal to feel cramps after a transfer but this feels too intense. I miscarried in March after my fresh transfer but the pain is worse and bleed heavier which seems worrying.
Freaking out a bit 😟

I’m really sorry you’ve had such a horrible time with this cycle. How long ago was your transfer?
I haven’t had an infection post transfer was in quite a bit of pain and had bad cramping that took a while to calm down after a difficult transfer. If your clinic isn’t being helpful and you’re worried, I’d speak to your GP as they may be willing to prescribe antibiotics. If not, try an urgent care/walk in clinic - they will check your heart rate, temp and what not, and run a blood test that will confirm infection or not and can treat you from there.
Thanks for your message. The transfer was just over two weeks ago. I started bleeding on Sat but its abruptly stopped today and now just having these sharp stabbing pains on my left side. I've had pain throughout the 2WW which was far more intense than my first transfer.
I'm going to try the clinic first thing again and insist they do something to see what's up. This process is difficult enough without this added worry 😔
Hi Sara. So sorry to hear this. Before you go again, perhaps ask to have a trial run so they can do the procedure without the struggle. Hope you are soon better. Diane
I had a fresh transfer in March that sadly ended in mcc. The transfer literally took 2 minutes and I had no pains after apart from some brief shooting pains 2 dpt which I put down to implantation cramps. This time it was just constant dull aching and then stabbing pains later on in the 2WW. The clinic have not been helpful at all tbh, keep telling me to go to my GP and ask for a UTI test (which is daft as I know what a UTI feels like). Things have started to ease off today thank god, so I'm just hoping it's down to having had a bit of a difficult transfer. Two embryos down but two frosties left. Fingers crossed my next transfer goes more like my first!! x
Hi Sara. Oh dear, so sorry to hear this. Sometimes there just isn't an answer as to why this happens. My usual advice is to keep up with lots of water to drink, and avaoid getting constipateed. Fingers crossed all has settled well now. Diane
