Looks like our first IVF round is failing

Hi all! I’m new here but looking at some of your posts & replies, it looks like I’ve found a great space for any IVF worries & questions! This is our first round of IVF, after 4 failed & 2 cancelled IUI cycles. We transferred two embryos on 19th May and 7 days later I got some light bleeding. It was dark in colour & I thought it may be implantation bleeding. However, I am now 10dpt & the bleeding has got heavier and redder each day. I think it’s my period. I am on 400 progesterone suppositories twice a day & always thought you couldn’t get a period whilst taking progesterone. I guess that’s not true? Anyone else experienced this? I also took a home pregnancy test yesterday (9dpt) & it was a BFN. My beta blood test is tomorrow, but we all know it will be negative. Feeling so sad.

So sorry to hear things are looking grim for this round. It's an awful feeling. While it won't help to hear it right now, the first round is often a bit experimental and things can be tweaked for the next one.

You can absolutely get your period on progesterone and it is definitely worth getting your progesterone levels checked at or befor transfer next time. Some women need lots more progesterone than others - I needed a combination of progesterone injections and vaginal pessaries to get the appropriate concentration to prevent bleeding and maintain pregnancy.

I found coming off the progesterone a bit rough mentally so be extra kind to yourself if/when the clinic confirm you can stop taking it. Sending you a massive hug xx

Sorry to hear this…it’s my first round as well and on 2WW….but remain positive I have read a few cases when this happened and they still got a BFP….
