Hot flashes after miscarriage

Hi everyone. I’m sat up at 3:30am typing this because I just sick with worry. I had an MMC on the 4th November 2021. I had to have repeat medical management and ended up in hospital a week later. I’ve been waiting on my first period, which I think is finally here. But in the run up to it, I’ve had a few occasions where I thought I was getting my period and I bled for one day and it stopped. I’ve also been having hot flashes over the last 10 days. All these surely cannot be good. I have a repeat base like scan for ivf today. It’s a repeat from a frankly awful one done 4 weeks after the miscarriage. To top it off I’ve been treated for an infection.

Has anyone else experienced hot flashes after a miscarriage. I want to believe it’s my body trying to rebalance itself but I think it’s just wishful thinking. Any one any experience?

Thank u x

I’m also sat up at 4am, wanting to seep but can’t! How annoying.

Firstly, so sorry for your loss 💔

Hot flashes are something I’ve experienced many times with my periods in the past, so much so that I used to visit the doctors all the time and they’d just say it was hormonal (I’d be so hot and cold that I’d have to change my clothes, I still don’t believe that’s normal). Anyway, following my first miscarriage, it took around four months for my periods to settle into any kind of routine again. The first bleed was painful and incredibly heavy but over fast. It actually resembled my miscarriage bleed and I was so concerned I called my doctor who told me unfortunately it can be like that. I didn’t have spotting but it sounds like your body is building up to a period. With any of these things, I’d always consult your doctor to seek their advice and get it checked out. With miscarriages, it can take a few moths for your body to settle back into its usual routine (or at least that’s what I found). What I did find reassuring was that I had a bleed, and that to me meant that my body was trying to heal itself.

Big hugs xx

I am sorry for your loss... 😔I also had a miscarriage begining of december, 2 weeks after i found out about the stopped heartbeat i decided on medicated miscarriage... i had a scan 4 weeks later and it seems to be all clear... i never had hot flushes, mind you a few times i did wake up in sweat and we always have the window open so not so hot in the room... 🤔

But i am waiting for my period which kind of started but i had some brown blood, then nothing, then a bit of red blood and then nothing for a few days... yesterday i had my period cramps and a bit more blood but then nothing again so i am not too sure if this is normal or not... 😔

Still have cramps but no proper bleeding...

Hi COH. So sorry to hear this. You need to speak with your GP in case you have an infection brewing. seems a bit like it. Drink plenty of water and try some paracetamol which might help with the flashes. Hope you soon get into your normal menstrual regime. Diane
