Just looking for advice please on what I could ask my clinic about going forward.
I’m bleeding today, (5+2) and have an appointment with EPU on Monday, but I’m pretty sure I’m miscarrying as this happened at virtually the same point on another FET last spring. This was my 3rd transfer.
I’ve still got frosties to use, but I’m sceptical of their quality given I got bad OHSS when they were retrieved. The clinic and embryologist said they wouldn’t have got to day 5 or defrosted like they have for the past three transfers if there was a problem with egg quality.
So what next?
Is it possible to test frozen embryos to see if they are genetically normal? (We have MFI likely due to undescended testes as a child.)
Or, is there something I can take? Blood thinners perhaps?
I don’t know what to do next. Something needs to change, we’ve done 3 transfers now. I’ve had to BFPs, but two losses at 5ish weeks.
Thanks for reading this far.

I didn't want to read and run. Sorry I am not going to be much help I have had two full cycles but also going through PGD - 1 embryo transferred in first cycle, BFN. One in second round BFP viability scan today (7+3) showed nowt there so likely chemical. Back to third egg collection for me! I would see what they say at the follow up - happy to share anything that is said at mine when I have it. That being said - you are to out of the game for certain yet - baby dust to you!
Thank you and sorry to hear of your news from today. Can I ask, with the genetic testing does it happen straight from fresh collection and then you have to do a FET?x
I had genetic testing because I have a genetic condition so we just tested for that. For us a the eggs were fertilised and of those that got to day 5 a biopsy was taken and tested whilst the embryos were frozen
Hello we have always done pgd testing and honestly it made no difference to us. We had 2 bfns and then a chemical with all chromosomally normal embryos. Our doctor changed the protocol. Adding steroids, blood thinners (clexane and aspirin), progesterone and I honestly think that got us slightly further. They will tweak it again adding in more for next time xxx
Thank you. That’s helpful - I just want to have some ideas for when I next speak to the consultant. We need to do something different - just not sure what.
I’m sorry you are going through this. I had my frozen embryo thawed and PGT-A tested and re-frozen. Unfortunately ours had chromosomal abnormalities so it wasn’t transferred. However it was good to know the reason why it wouldn’t have worked rather than guessing. Your clinic should be able to advise you. I hope this helps. Good luck.
You could try blood thinners (clexane or just take aspirin). I didn't do it myself but did you do immunology testing? It might be worth looking into. You could defrost, biopsy for PGT testing and freeze while waiting for results but there is more risk of losing your embryo going through the procedure. I also read quite a lot of abnormal embryos correct themselves as they develop or normal embryos develop abnormalities as they grow. It's such a tough process. X
I’m so sorry you are bleeding, I’ve been there myself and know how hard it is. There was some comfort for me that at least we were getting pregnant as that’s half the battle. I wouldn’t give up hope for your Frosties though, It can just be the luck of the draw with the embryos and it was our 4th one that stuck around. You might want to look into blood thinners and progesterone levels though as those can be thing s that can help sustain a viable pregnancy, although sometimes it’s nothing our bodies is doing that’s the problem the embryo just wasn’t right. You could test them but there’s risks in that too and all my research led me to decide not to do that and just give them a chance back in with me. I am hoping for good news for you at the EPU and sending love either way 🤗 xx
Went to the EPU today for a scan and everything is measuring as expected for 6+2. The bleed I had wasn’t a miscarriage. Got to wait another two weeks for the next scan now.
