Levest contraceptive pill and heavy bleeding

Morning!

I’m due to do an egg sharing round of ivf in the new year and my clinic wanted me to start taking Levest contraceptive pill on the first day of my period to help with timings. My period came on Christmas Day so I started taking it and have been taking as prescribed but it seems to be making my period really heavy - I normally have 2 days where it’s super heavy but I’m on day 6 now and it’s still heavy and there are a lot of clots (sorry for the tmi) and I’m having to wear a pad and tampon. I spoke to the pharmacist at my work who said it shouldn’t do this but I can’t ask the clinic what to do as they are closed until 5/1. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? My concern is I already have low iron because of heavy periods prior to this and take iron tablets but since starting the pill my period is showing no signs of letting up and I’m worried I’ll end up anaemic again as my iron wasn’t very high to start with. Any advice or responses to put my mind at ease would be great! Many thanks

Hi K8ieKeep taking meds- hope the bleeding is easing off- and let clinic know your concerns when they open . If bleeding gets heavier get in touch with your local A&E Dept or call NHS for advice

Hi Janet

Thank you for your reply - I will continue with the medication, so far today it seems to have eased, I was just getting very concerned that it seemed so heavy in comparison to how I normally am.
