Heavy bleeding 9dpt and bfn

Hi all

My partner and I have both got fertility issues so after two years of trying, have been going through ICSI. I had a fresh transfer 9 days ago with a AA quality embryo. I’ve done everything from using a hot water bottle, short dog walks and litres of water per day. I’m using 2x 400mg Cyclogest pessaries per day.

TMI warning! I started spotting brown blood on day 7 with bits in and thought this was probably a good sign from what I read online. Yesterday (day 8pt) I started bleeding more heavily like a period but it was more orange and only when I wiped but got heavier as the day went on. It’s still really heavy today. I spoke to the clinic yesterday and they said to rest until day 10 (tomorrow) and take a test but I couldn’t wait and did one this morning (Clearblue with the blue lines) and it was negative. I’m pretty sure I’m out now - I’ve read the pessaries could be causing problems resulting in bleeding, I’ve read up about chemical pregnancies and subchorionic hematoma and I know there’s nothing concrete but just wondering if anyone else has had similar issues but still had a positive result after day 9? I know I’m clutching at straws here.

This is my first try at IVF but it’s taken everything out of me and I’ve only got one frozen embryo left if this is a fail.

Thanks in advance.

I'm so sorry your going through this. This happened to me on 4 transfers. Each time my progesterone has low and every transfer they added more to it as my period would arrive before my OTD. For my 5th go I was/still am on 4xcyclogest, 1xutrogestan and 2 lubion injections. I would defiantly on your OTD go to your clinic and get your progesterone checked so that you can see if it is low and if it is you'll need to be on more next time. xx

Oh wow, that must have been so difficult for you to deal with. I really hope this one is the one that works, it’s just so hard to go through this so I can’t imagine how you must have felt after the last one!

We went abroad for treatment because of the logistics of where we live and they’ve been brilliant all the way through but can’t go to the clinic easily. I think I’ll wait until Monday and get a test at my local GP, send it to them and see what they say.

Thanks so much for your reply, I’ll definitely make a note of it for when I speak to the clinic and hopefully we can go again with the last embryo with more information from this failed one.

I really wish you all the luck in the world!

Thank you 😊.

Yeah maybe just popping to the clinic isn't such a good idea but I'd defiantly see if your GP could do it for you.

I was clueless about IVF before I started, then I joined lots of forums and its crazy what you learn from everyone's experiences.

I've got everything crossed for you 🤞 xx

I know, me too. I did as much research as humanly possible but still didn’t prepare me for this!

Thank you - same to you too. All the best this time.

Hi Always_Worried , I'd like someone to give you some good news, but I have the same experience as Ginbaby. I had a very similar experience during my first fresh transfer and result was negative. My progesterone wasn't checked but on my next FET I was given extra progesterone due to the prior bleed, and that has held back my period on subsequent goes (Also negatives, but at least not the same reason.) I'm sorry if you are going through the same thing, but just wanted you to know it is common and can be treated.

Hi - thank you for your reply. I think I have come to the realisation that this has failed now. It’s devastating.

I’m so sorry to read about your failed attempts too, I really wish you all the best through this draining nightmare.

It is such a difficult process. The first round is very mentally draining as there is so much to learn, such a loss of control and anxiety with every new day. I have found it the most difficult so far. In a way though you can be proud when you get to the end of it and know you can get through it. Keep us updated, and look after yourself over the next few weeks x

Thank you WillowPark. We’ve only told our parents what we are going through so it’s nice to be able to speak to others going through this. I really appreciate your responses to my post x
