Late 2nd period post failed ivf

2nd period late after failed IVF….

My period after the negative result post fet was on 16th Nov. Since then I have not got periods. My menses are quite regular that is 28days. I’m currently on day 36 and still waiting. I did a home pregnancy test on day 35 and it was negative. My doctor said it takes 2-3 cycles to get regular. But today morning I was very nauseous, I am getting these terrible backache since a week now. Did everyone who missed 2nd period after failed ivf had similar symptoms and by when did you got your periods?

The theory why your period is late after FET is: your estrogen level is still high (period is induced at the fall level of progesterone) the high estrogen suppresses your FSH so you can’t ovulate (thus no progesterone) once your estrogen back to low, your FSH will start working again and the cycle starts.Usually with me, my normal cycle is 28, and after failed cycle is about 35 days…so you are close. But it varies for every person. Depends on high your estrogen level during that FET and how soon your body metabolizes it.

I’ve done a lot of IVF cycles and my period is always late the cycle after, normally by around a week or so. It’s really normal, try not to stress too much about it or it might hold it off longer xx
