2nd period a no show after failed ivf

Hi all,

Looking some advise or even just some reassurance that it alright and things will go back to normal.

I am currently on day 45 of my cycle. My period is normally 26-28days. Has anyone had a totally missed second period following failed ivf?

I of course had my hopes well and truly up thinking i was one of those lucky few who falls pregnant after failed ivf. But I took a test on Sunday (cycle day 42) which was negative.

Hi Winnie,

I have had 2 failed FET's. I am currently waiting for my second period after this last FET and it is yet to show up. The last time it took about 53 days to come! It's very frustrating when you are waiting to do another FET. I believe it is very normal. It has been discussed on here before and many people have said they have waited a while for their second period to arrive. You body is still cleansing out medication and recovering from the stress an FET may cause.

I hope you get it soon!

Thanks for your response Ac22.We seem to be at the same stage, I also have had 2 failed FET, and if this second period would ever show up so I can move on away from it!

Hope you are holding up, I know it can be the hardest thing to cope with.

Hi, I feel your pain and frustration. I am on day 70 (!) of my second cycle after my failed FET. I had some norethisterone left so I am taking this for 5 days in the hope it will finally show up! Then I will be able to move on to the next FET. How annoying! Just don’t hesitate to ask to be prescribed something to bring it on. Good luck!

I got my 2nd period around day 43 after my last IVF cycle in March. I have never been late like that, always pretty regular day 30.

I saw my consultant around day 41 for something unrelated but asked him about it. He says it’s totally normal and very common to have a delayed 2nd period. It’s due to your ovaries being fatigued from the IVF cycle. After egg collection the follicles are empty but refill with fluid (blood etc) in the days afterwards. The ovaries take a while to settle. So frustrating but normal x

Hi ladiesI am currently waiting for my period to arrive in the next day or two but looking at your posts it sounds like I may be waiting a while.

What are your thoughts on trying a frozen cycle when this period finally arrives? In my head I had thought to wait this one out and then do it on the next cycle to give my body an extra break but now I'm getting impatient
