Cyclogest Pessaries

Morning,

I’ll ask at my clinic later, but just wondered peoples thoughts.

Cyclogest - front or back? Is there any evidence to support either way is preferred?

I used vaginally for first FET, got a BFP, switched to rectally and then had miscarriage back in the spring.

Second FET I went rectally from the start. BFN.

I’m not sure what to do this time? Vaginally is so messy and it makes me feel yuck that I’m ‘unclean’, but my experiences so far suggest this is the better option.

Anyone read any articles that may help?

Thanks

I found I needed to use pessaries vaginally - rectal did not work for me. There is some evidence to suggest endometrial concentrations get a little higher with vaginal use - for most women this is not the difference between BFP and BFN but for some (including me) I think it was - I have problems with progesterone production and sensitivity. Utrogestan is far less messy so if you want to go vaginal ask if you can have those instead - really minimal mess and no need to lie down. You could also ask to have your progesterone levels checked if not already - in addition to pessaries I needed Lubion injections (which I had in both rounds) xx

Thanks for replying. I think I’m stuck with Cyclogest for this round as I’ve already got my meds, but getting my levels checked and switching to a different type of progesterone is something I’ll ask if I have to go again in the new year.

I am guessing you have enough meds to take you to OTD, so you could always ask about Utrogestan going forwards if you get a BFP. Best of luck xx

My original clinic told me there was no difference in absorption between front and back, the benefit of the back is less mess and you don't 'lose' any AND don't have to lie around for 20 mins after inserting. If you are prone to thrush its good to use the back too.

My new clinic mandate the back door!

Good luck x

I was very freaked out when I was told to use them rectally but actually once I got used to it, it wasn’t so bad. I did find they made me gassy and often had an upset tummy though. My clinic said that they absorb better rectally and there’s no mess xx

The most important thing is to take the pessaries - so just choice which way feels right for youGood Luck

Hi lovely, the first round I used front and it didn’t work second round I started off front and quickly swapped to back as I was sick of the mess!Like Muzick said it did give me a funny tummy but not till after my BFP!! So it could have been the symptoms of the pregnancy too. I really believe front or back is the same as it’s still absorbed it just depends what you feel is easier.

All the best for the round xxx

100% rectally! Much more comfy, less mess and made absolutely no difference to my BFN / BFP xx

I'd always choose the back door here! Find it so much easier 😆 xx
