Day8 stims only 3 follicles

Hi I had my baseline scan which showed AFC 12… then my day 6 scan showed 8 follicles brewing and now day 8 scan only showed 3 and the test all the rest still small. Nurse said they may trigger early as don’t want to loose the 3. I’m 43.8 amh 14.7… doing low dose gonal-f due to oestrogen cancers in family. Thought I would have more follicles especially as I’ve PCOS

Hello Gem. It's so odd, I came on here a week ago with the exact same situation as you. I was feeling pretty devastated to only have three follicles and assumed this was a super unusual response to stims, but since then I've had lots of replies from people who experienced similar in the past. So firstly, just know you are definitely not alone.

Also, if it makes you feel any better, they somehow got 4 eggs from my 3 follicles, all 4 fertilised, and 2 made it to day 5 to be frozen. So what I thought was going to be a total write off was actually very hopeful. Your consultant wouldn't let you go ahead with egg collection if they didn't believe you'd get an embryo out of it—that's something I tried to keep in mind.

Hi! My first cycle the doctor was more cautious and gave a low dose of stims so I won't develop OHSS because of my PCOS. Had 6 eggs retrieved, 3 fertilised and none made it to day 5. Second time they changed my stims, got 15 eggs, 12 fertilised and 2 got frozen. Developed OHSS and now I'm booked for FET. My nurse told me sometimes it's how the body reacts to the treatment and sometimes the first cycle is like a trial for your body. I don't know if this is your first IVF but if it's try to be prepared for anything. IVF is sooo unpredictable.

Hi Gemstone78, I had yesterday my10 day stim/scan, 3 follicles. I’m booked Thursday for collection, 2 follicles have a good size, one is 10 mm, they don’t think will pick up, nurse said we focus on those two. We have all the hope in those follicles. 🙏🏿🙏🏿

Don’t lose hope! I have low AMH and we had six follicles at the last scan before egg collection that were at a mature size. We collected four eggs, all four fertilised and we got one embryo which was transferred last Monday. Now it’s a waiting game! Hope everything goes ok for you x
