Hair loss during treatment?

Hi All, anyone experience this? Currently 7weeks along after 6th cycle. On 1 progesterone injection and 1 pessary daily. Also 1 heparin injection daily, up as far as 12weeks, hopefully. Never had it before on previous cycles but never had heparin either so it could be this. At a point I can't even brush my hair anymore as too much is left on the brush. I reckon I have lost a quarter of thickness, and I can't afford to lose that. Any advice please. Thanks so much.

No specific IVF medication is know to cause hair loss but changes in hormone levels can cause diffuse hair loss but it should grow back when hormones are more stable Maybe you could ask your hairdresser to suggest a gentle shampoo or a thickening one that might prove helpful

Thanks for your reply, Janet, hopefully it will stop when I'm done with the meds.

Were you on oestrogen tablets - and have you stopped them? x

Thanks Millbanks, no estrogen. It was a fresh transfer.

Ah I was asking because I was on a very high dose of oestrogen, and when I stopped them at 12 weeks my hair came out in handfuls! It was a bit worrying. I've also heard that natural fluctuation of hormones can affect this too. Maybe check with your GP? xx

Thanks so much for your time. I have a GP appointment next week so I'll bring it up with them then. Thanks Millbanks!

Fingers crossed they can help - I do think it's quite normal during pregnancy - your body does all kinds of weird things! x

Absolutely. Saying that, I'll take not having a single hair on my head to be here in the first place right now. Very blessed, lucky and honoured to have finally had a successful round and hate complaining about the small stuff. Thanks so much again.

I couldn't agree more!! I've had ligament pain and bleeding and I'd still rather be struggling with these than not be here at all! Hope the rest of your pregnancy goes well xx

I’ve PCOS and had significant hair loss over the past year but same wouldn’t change my current situ! Try nioxin shampoo for thinning hair xx
