Buserelin and down regulating.

Hey,

I’m 12 days into my buserelin injections for down regulating before FET. I was supposed to have a scan on Friday to check lining is thin and ovaries quiet before building it up again but it’s been cancelled as I haven’t had a bleed yet. Has this happened to anyone else? When should I have expected my period and what happens if I don’t have one 😩.. I’m so drained from this entire process just seems like it is never ending one set back after another.

Thanks in advance xx

Hi maybe stressing is causing you not to come on. I had to take progesterone tablets and had to wait 6 days for my bleeding it was supposed to come within 3-4 days after stopping the progesterone tabs but it came on day 6. I was really upset but u seriously have to try not to stress and relax the whole process is stressful as it is and stress will take its toll on your body.

Try to relax, have some zen time and try to remain positive. X I hope everything works out for you X positive baby dust everywhereX

Yeah I do need to take a bit of time for myself I think. It definitely won’t be helping the situation. I feel like it’s completely taking over my thoughts at the minute just feel drained. Thank you for replying xxx

Hi Torijayne, hang in there 😊 I know it's super tough when there are setbacks but this is just pushing the dates back a bit rather than anything going wrong 🤞I think my first time on Buserelin it took me 14 days to bleed (it was after my fresh cycle so I think things were a little weird anyway). If your clinic becomes concerned they will also bring you in for a scan before your bleed to check where you are at. I remember rescheduling that first scan about 3 times and thought I was going insane with stress. But the clinics don't mind and are generally not concerned at this stage! All the best! Hope things start soon for you x

Hello, thanks for your reply. They have told me to rebook for Tuesday as they would’ve expected me to have a period by now and if I haven’t they’d still like to scan me to see what’s going on. Iv read a few posts of it delaying some peoples so fingers crossed it comes between now and Tuesday. I’m not regular at the best of times so the thought of continuing with buserelin until I do it is filling me with dread. Xx

Oh great - I'm glad you have a plan of action! I know there are other medications they can give you to bring your period on, if they think you need it after the scan. On the other hand, in my googling when things were delayed for me, I'm sure I have read that some people's lining ends up thin enough that they just start. It's such a mystery and all pretty individual, unfortunately. I hear you about wanting to avoid being on buserelin for much longer... Good luck xx

Hi lovely, I always found Buserelin really counterintuative in IVF as it essentially puts you in to a menopausal state so it does tend to delay your period. I was on it twice and both times my period took a lot longer to arrive than it should have and the 2nd time I got a cyst, so I asked not to have it again (they agreed).Fingers crossed your period starts soon! xx

Hey, thanks for your reply. Yeah I think I’m a little bit sceptical about the use of buserelin purely because it was used as my trigger for egg collection aswell and I can’t really get my head round how it both matures the eggs in one respect then suppresses it in another but who am I to question 🤷‍♀️🤣 xx

Hey! Iv been searching on here to find someone in the same boat as me! I’m on a long protocol & currently on day 11 of bruserlin and no sign of period 🙈 I don’t usually have periods anyway.. but was wondering how long it took you to have a bleed? And is this normal! I’m scared to call clinic in case they cancel the round 🙈 I have my scan in 7th.. xx

Hey! Don’t be worried mine wasn’t cancelled. I had a scan and my lining was still too think but they started me on progesterone to bring on the bleed and it came probably 3/4days after that. I don’t have periods either so was so stressed about it but there is things they can do to bring it on so defo give them a call and speak to them. I’m currently 18 weeks pregnant :) best of luck to you xxx
