Covid during FET meds

Hi team, so... despite a Day 2 PCR test coming back negative on Saturday after a much needed holiday, I took a lateral flow test for work this morning and it's positive.

I'm also on day 7 of estrogen patches and tablets, etc. for my upcoming FET.

I expect the answer is that this cycle will be cancelled, which I'm so so gutted about. But I am out of isolation next Friday and so, in theory, my transfer could still happen assuming my lining scan is fine. It just means a few days longer on estrogen (which, I think, is usually okay?). Am I crazy to think that?!

I've taken an NHS PCR test today to confirm before calling the clinic but I'm wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation and their FET has been allowed to go ahead. I have been double-vaccinated and feel fine!

Thanks for any advice.

I really wouldn’t - you don’t want antibodies and inflammation in your body when you place a precious embryo x

Thank you ❤️ definitely something to consider and I expect that might be why the clinic might cancel. It's just hard to wrap my head around at the moment though.

Hey lovely,

Sorry to hear that, hope you’re feeling ok!

I had to do a Covid test at my last scan before transfer, so 5 days before and that needed to be clear for me to have my transfer.

I’d see what your clinic says. I know it’s disappointing but if it does need to cancelled, better to do it now before you spend any longer on medication than you need to xx

A bit teary, as you can imagine!

Hmm, that's what I'm thinking. I would have thought if you were clear when you started progesterone you should be okay to transfer but who knows. The guidance online is a lot clearer for egg collection, which makes more sense as you need to be in the clinic frequently for monitoring and it's such a delicate process.

But thank you, that does help. You're right that (if needed) it's better to cancel now at this earlier stage of treatment. xx

Either way, I will report back so that people can search the answer on here later if they need to! 😊

The issue is that your clinic would need to scan you before the end of your isolation period and that alone means that they would have to cancel the cycle. The good news though is that should you become pregnant in the few months, you will have built all those antibodies so you will be well protected during your pregnancy.

Well, the update on this one is that my PCR test was negative! So the question ended up being hypothetical.

I think, in reality, my cycle would have been cancelled but I agree with the upside that at least I would have had some great antibodies that would keep me well protected if I did end up pregnant (a free but very stressful booster shot). I think I just needed to carry some hope yesterday that it might be okay as I was quite upset...

I'm not 100% sure what's going on as I had two positive lateral flow tests (one was very faint) but I will cross my fingers and continue on being sensible and distancing. Particularly as I have zero symptoms.

Lateral flow tests are known for giving false positives, always go for a PCR to confirm

I'm definitely not using that pack again, either.
