Swimming during IVF (FET)?

Is there any part of the FET cycle that it is recommended not to go swimming during? I start my FET in the next week or so and am booked to go on a caravan holiday soon where the swimming slots are booked in advance... the slots have just opened and I don't know if I can swim while doing the FET cycle? I'll try and call my clinic tomorrow but if anyone has any advice I'd love to hear it, thanks x

the only time I’ve been advised not to swim is immediately following an FET for 3 days. This is just to avoid the chance of infection. Happy swimming!

hi hope you’re well, our clinic advised not to swim or take baths after the transfer to minimise risk of infection, I believe they said swimming was ok by day 5 (baths or hot tub banned the whole 2ww due to risk of raising internal temperature). All the best of luck for your transfer 🤞🏼🤞🏼

My clinic says no swimming during the 2WW but fine any other time x

everything up to transfer is fine then and then after transfer not for a few days. I usually just don’t during the 2ww at all just to be safe but think it’s only a few days due to risk of infection as the catheter has opened your cervix. No hot jacuzzis etc though during full 2WW xx

like others have said mine said to avoid swimming and baths in TWW but fine leading up to it.

Hi lovely, I've always been told not to swim after FET due to the risk of infection.

Not worth the risk in my opinion! xx

I was recommended not to swim in a chlorinated pool until 14 weeks by my clinic but they are the most conservative I’ve heard of - the Dr basically said yes it could be ok but if it fails you don’t want to be thinking “oh I wish I had never gone swimming.” They has that attitude on everything including zero caffeine vs the 200mg etc.

The risk is infection risk.

my clinic said no swimming in pools or sea before or after the transfer and until the 12 week scan as infections can be fatal for the embryo. It’s been tough especially on holiday but if something had happened I would have never forgiven myself. Good luck x

Thank you everyone! Looks like I can swim on my holiday as transfer will likely be after, thanks!
