Bleeding at week 6

Hi,

I’m currently at week 6 after my first positive pregnancy test, and today I had some light bleeding. Last night, my tummy area felt unusually sensitive when I used Lubion. I contacted our clinic, and they’ve moved our early pregnancy scan up to Friday. Has anyone else gone through something similar? I’m doing my best to stay calm, and I even took another pregnancy test, which still showed positive. X

hi , I hope you’re well, I understand bleeding can be quite scary but not all bleeding means the worst. It could be a hematoma, they seem to be common on ivf pregnancies , hopefully they can reassure you more when you get the scan, try to stay positive and calm, wishing you all the best of luck!

Thank you! It’s been an awfully emotional day topped off by a family funeral. We’ve not been able to share the news yet., which makes it even more lonely/ nerve wracking for my boyfriend and I.

When I spoke to the nurse earlier today, she tried to reassure me and let me know that light bleeding could be quite normal. I’ll be more assured after the scan. X

Scan went well yesterday. Nurse saw a flicker of a heartbeat. We have another one in 2 weeks to be sure and take proper photos. Thank you for thinking of me. It’s insane how nerve wracking each step of the way is. Xx

yes I’ve had an early bleed at 7 weeks. I had some sharp pains in my womb before it happened and then I went to the bathroom and it all came out. I then had some very slight cramping for a day or so after. It stopped quite quickly and then I spotted for weeks. Has yours stopped ?

I then had a massive bleed at 18 weeks

Both times was a heamatoma

Try not to stress xxx it’s hard I know

Thanks Beclp! The bleeding and sharp pains stopped yesterday late afternoon. But I am still being vigilant about it.

Did your doctors explain why yours occurred on those occasions? X

Not for the first one at 7 weeks but the big one at 18 weeks was a heamtoma

Hopefully I don’t get anymore

They are more common in ivf pregnancies for some reason they don’t quite know

It’s good it’s stopped. I think that’s a good sign 🙌

it’s very likely a hematoma which is common in IvF. I had it at 8 weeks. Baby was just fine. Heartbeat flickering away.

It’s a blood pocket in the uterus which forms and then bursts. I had massive clots. Hubby and I looked at it in the loo and thought oh it must be all over…but like I said she was fine. I just came of the blood thinners (aspirin and clexane) for 48 hours and the bleeding stopped. Hope scan goes ok

I hope it has stopped by now. For me bleeding at this stage went both ways. Once it was miscarriage but at that occasion bleeding only got worse. And with my both pregnancies I had bleedings caused by a hematoma. I was put on strict bed rest so the hematoma wouldn’t get bigger and cause miscarriage. Try to rest until the scan. Keeping my fingers crossed for good news!

I also had bleed between 6-7 weeks of my pregnancy. Baby is now happy and healthy 8 months old. I know how scary it is to see blood but it is more common than people realise in early pregnancy. Hope your early scan is positive and baby is just getting comfy xx

I had this at exactly the same time. It started off as brown blood, so they moved my scan forward. Baby was fine. A couple of days later I had heavy red bleeding. I panicked and went to the hospital again and it turned out to be a hematoma. Baby was fine again and he will be 4 weeks old on Monday! Wishing you the best of luck x
