Has anyone else had an increase in dental issues through ivf cycles? I think the hormones? And if so, anything that can help strengthen teeth/gums during? Feel like if I'm not at the clinic, I'm at the dentist 😫

Oh no poor you! I certainly spent a lot of time at the dentist around IVF cycles and appts - I think that was just fluke and my NHS dentist hadn’t been looking after my teeth well enough. So I ended up needing two root canals and a filling done before my 1st ivf cycle, then after my miscarriage and before my third transfer. I don’t think my problems were caused by IVF or being pregnant. I have heard that pregnancy can weaken teeth and gums though so definitely get all the advice that you can from your dentist - floss more, mouthwash between meals, electric toothbrush. I hope things settle down for you, it’s no fun going through procedures at both ends of our bodies! Best of luck xx
Another thing that I found that helped with inflammation of the gums is eating more vitamin C it’s an anti inflammatory- so eating oranges etc . I suffered terribly after coming off the contraceptive pill after 13 years of been on it. My hormones were flying all over and I think it was the cause hormones. But they are absolutely perfect now electric toothbrush regular hygienist visits and flossing etc or using those Tipi brushes . Good luck ❤️😊
I recommend you try Steel Bite Pro, these supplements are the best at the moment, I hope I helped you🙏👇

Hi Ttcbythesea. Oh dear! Are you taking your Vitamin D? Diane
I can completely relate to this! All the way through my stipulations this time I was dealing with a tooth infection. I basically cried the entire time. I've also had dentist referrals going on during the cycle! Horrendous isn't it!! I wish you all the luck with both issues though!
I think it can definitely be hormone related - one of the ways I knew my period was due was that my gums started to bleed and I got mouth ulcers. For the ulcers and general infection, years ago I was told to use corsodyl mouthwash and hydrocortisone tablets to reduce inflammation (no idea about the latter in TTC/pregnancy but these were a godsend to me each month or whenever I was run down).
Hi there! We are in the same boat. Unfortunately, the hormones (progesterone and estrogen) used in IVF have an effect on gums. This is one of the reasons why dental issues are more common during pregnancy as well. Here is a great article which discusses (although in terms of pregnancy specifically): mamasconnected.com/post/pre...
I wish I had an easy answer
Best wishes dear x
