I have PCOS and don’t ovulate often, is it likely I will do medicated FET? Can you tell me more or less how long the process takes?

First FET: I have PCOS, how long does it take?
Hi lovely
I, unfortunately, can't answer your question about the fet but I did just want to ask if you're taking Inofolic Alpha for your PCOS. I'm sure you've done plenty of research and are likely already taking it, but it can make a big difference for anovulation so I didn't want to leave without mentioning it. Good luck with the fet! xxx
You mean being given progesterone? Then yes, for sure. Some clinics give most women progesterone even if they don't have PCOS. I'm on the border of having it. Rarely ovulate. I just did FET and I'm taking two types of progesterone and estrogen. It could last the whole pregnancy.
If it's another medication you mean than I don't know. Like I said I borderline have it but wasn't given anything special for it.
Hey lovely,
Hope you’re doing ok. I think they only recommend a natural FET if you have very regular cycles and ovulate (as you need to ovulate to kick start your body into producing progesterone).
I find frozen transfers so much easier than a fresh round. Normally you start estradiol tablets on first day of full bleed (normally day 2) and then have a scan around 10/11 days later to check lining looks good. If it does then start progesterone and transfer is 5 days later xx
Hi! Thank you for this. For me the fresh cycle was only one week of stims and I was reading FET is much longer. I am assuming I will do a medicated transfer because my ovulation is absent or just so unpredictable. Usually my lining is tick so hopefully it will not take so long. I’m just so so impatient! Thank you! Hope you are all doing well xxx
Some clinics do make you down regulate for a FET which will make it longer but that’s just for their scheduling so it’s not necessary. My clinic don’t make you do it so it’s really quick!
I have regular cycles but always opt for a medicated one because I feel more in control that way. I like to have a plan!
Hope you can get the ball rolling on yours soon 🤞🏻 xx
Hi 👋🏻 Have you tried metformin to regulate your cycle? It’s prescribed by a doctor. Horrible stuff but seems to work x
I’ve done two FETs and both medicated so they control your cycle for you. I did start on what was D1 of my period though so not sure if you for you, they will just make a decision to start you with the Progynova (that’s what I was taking) first and see how you get on with that before then prescribing the progesterone before a transfer. Good luck 🍀 xx
Two weeks Progynova I think, then 5 days progesterone then transfer - maybe 3/4 weeks in total excl., TWW. Xx
Thank you for this. Do you tend to have a tick lining? Xxx
Hi, I too hace PCOS so my FET cycles had to be medicated, which was fine really. It roughly took 3 weeks from day 1 of medication to transfer day. Best of luck. I am currently pregnant with a sibling to my now 3 year old so it can work! Xx
Lovely! My first fresh cycle was successful but I had a miscarriage at 8 weeks. Hopefully the first FET will bring me my rainbow. Best of luck xxx
