Covid during pregnancy?

Hi all, I'm currently 8.5 weeks and found out yesterday my husband has covid. I've been feeling rough for the last 24 hours so it's likely I've got it too. I did take a lateral flow test last night and it was negative, but have a PCR test on its way today to take which will be more accurate.

I was meant to have my 8 week scan today but we've postponed that for another week. The fertility clinic said that I will be fine, and bubba will be fine. Just to take it easy, stay hydrated, and keep positive.

Of course I'm worrying though. Has anyone had any experiences of having covid while pregnant? Google says the thing to watch out for is fever.

It seems like the world keeps stacking up these obstacles. Just as I thought we'd gotten there, I'm so very worried of miscarriage. It's never easy or straightforward is it!

Hey lovely, so sorry to hear this. I had covid last week, I had it pretty bad for ten days..slamming head, bad throat and chest, felt physically drained and my morning sickness got even worse.I am pregnant with twins. I went for my scan yesterday and the babies are perfect, covid didn't affect them, they are growing well. Your body will protect your baby❤️

Yeah keep hydrated, I put cold cloth on my head to keep my temperature down, opened windows in my house to keep the air flowing and slept and rested as much as I could

Hopefully you will have a mild case and will recover soon xxx

Thank goodness your babies are still ok. Sounds like you had a really rough time with it. As you say, we just need to trust our bodies to do the right thing.

Have you had any Covid vaccinations as can offer good protection ? I think the last trimester is the most riskiest stage of pregnancy to get Covid pre term labour and still birth more likely and 1-10 pregnant women end up in intensive care unit some don't make it. If you haven't already vaccinated I would definitely get both vaccinations done before last trimester. I had my first vaccination a week before we conceived and second dose I delayed until I was 14 weeks and my baby is fine. It must be very scary I am so sorry you are going through this. If you do get a temperature paracetamol is safe to take during Pregnancy. I hope you feel better soon and the scan offers reassurance Xx

I've had both vaccines thankfully. My husband really hasn't had it too bad, only 2-3 days of bad symptoms so hopefully I won't have it bad either as we're both double jabbed.

Aww that is great that should definitely offer you both a lot of protection then. You've been incredibly unlucky to get it. 😞I know lots of pregnant women are scared of getting the vaccination but I do think it makes it much safer than getting Covid unvaccinated in last trimester. My obstetrician advised me to wear masks social distancing and hand washing even double vaccinated for extra safety. That delta variant is impossible to protect against 😞 I hope you get a very mild version and feel better soon Xx
