Hi all, is your clinic asking you to self isolate ? If so , is it for both of you or just you ? And for how long ? xx
Self isolation : Hi all, is your... - Fertility Network UK
Self isolation
Hi! Yeah my clinic said to isolate as well! I took some unpaid leave to do than but then they never mentioned again. Also my husband was suposed to do it as well but he couldn't miss work. I believe at the end of the day it should be up to you what risks you take. Goodluck!
Hi , thanks so much for the reply ! Did you ended up isolating ? x
My clinic asked me (but not husband) to isolate for 3 days before EC. They COVID swabbed on that first day. They asked me (but not husband) to strictly social distance during the rest of treatment and COVID swabbed before starting stims. It is really important to follow what your clinic tell you - if they tell you to isolate (as opposed to distance) then you need to isolate. It is as much for their safety as for your peace of mind not needing to have a cycle cancelled. xx
Thanks so much for the reply xx I was more thinking they would ask me to isolate up until transfer , as it would make more sense ? Do you think it’s possible to do so ? As I cannot really socially distance at work 🤷🏼♀️ xx
Usually after EC they tell you to distance again rather than isolate but check with them to be absolutely sure what their policy is as some clinics may offer refunds etc if you had to cancel a transfer last minute, but some don’t! xx
Mine have previously said to self isolate before and throughout treatment. This time they have said to limit social contact as much as possible, especially in the 2 weeks before I start the stims. Also have to do a lateral flow before attending clinic for any of the appointments x
Thanks for the reply xx yeah , the tests make sense x are you self isolating this time again ?
Not completely like last time. I'm still going out for nice long walks where it's quiet whereas before I just stayed inside completely. I just won't be doing any indoor activities like going to restaurants/bars/cinema etc. I still haven't done any of these anyway so it won't be a massive deal for me. We still get all our shopping delivered. Luckily I can still work from home too. Just not worth the risk when you've been told you could lose your NHS funding if you test positive or get told to self isolate on track and trace x
Ohh, right , that’s good that you can work from home xx I’ll have to take unpaid leave for isolation , but I deffo want to just because as you already said , can not afford to lose the funded cycle . x are you both isolating ? x also , are you going to stay home for your 2ww ? My work is very stressful , so I’m thinking about talking with my gp to get a sick note for that x
Yes we will both be doing the same. I think for the 2ww I will probably be just as careful. I'll still be working just to take my mind off things but I'm lucky that I can do my job at home. Things would probably be different if I was back in the office as I'd be feeling stressed about being around people who I know are getting back to normal and having gatherings/going to gigs/pubs etc. I would speak to your GP as they may be able to give you a sick note to cover the entire treatment including the self isolation before you start stims if that's what your clinic are asking for x
We both had to isolate, luckily we could both work from home so it didn’t impact us too much x
When did you had your treatment and for how long did you isolate ? xx
we were Covid tested on 27th Aug and had to isolate until collection on the 1st Sept, then isolate again until transfer on 4th Sept. xx
So you isolated from 27/08-04/09 ? I’m hoping that’s what they would ask me to do , as I want to isolate up until transfer , as social distancing is hard at work.. What did you tell at work ? xx
Yea that’s right hun. I have been honest with work throughout our 3 year IVF journey to save on the stress. They have been v supportive and allowed me last minute half day holidays for scans and bloods. Luckily I had the weekend to recover from transfer, I’m in the office this week but they understand I need to be kept stress free so are keeping a lot of the stressful jobs away from me for this week as it’s the first week of our 2ww. I’m on holiday next week so that will help. I know I’ve been v lucky with work xxxx
Oh , you really have been , my work can be supportive with appointments , but as I work in a call centre , my whole day is stressful , people shouting on the phones , and I’m already as emotional as it is and sometimes get stressful or cry after a bad call , and really don’t need any of that during process , as I want to be as relaxed as possible 🤷🏼♀️ But happy for you , it’s really nice to hear your work is understanding x
I know, I’m very blessed. I would speak to your doctor and get signed off. The clinic told me I can be as active as I feel comfortable but MUST avoid any levels of stress whatsoever xxx
Thank you so much for the advice xx I will deffo speak with my gp xx all the best to you xx
