Hi ladies, thank you for your support on my last question.

I’ve been for my scan to confirm no heartbeat and I really don’t know which option to go for. I’m petrified of both. I really don’t know. Can I please ask anyone’s experiences xx

I went with the surgery option to speed up the physical side as I couldn’t be at work dealing with all of that . All the best with your decision. Do what you feel is right for you 💐

Thank you lovely, can I ask how you found it? I’m just so worried about both and can’t believe I’m actually having to choose between both. It will be local Anaesthetic as not doing general because of covid x

I had general so didn’t know too much about it and after it was no worse than cramps and one day of heavier bleed then normal . The tablets opened the bee is and the whole thing started before the surgery so hopefully you’ll be ok 💐💐💐

Hi blue, I went with the surgery option, my sac was high up and I didn’t want to wait for a few weeks for it to come out on its own, also tablets can lead to surgery if it all doesn’t come out anyway. I wanted the quickest option with less bleeding time so I could book back in for our next round, good luck with the decision, it’s not easy whichever you choose xx

Thank you Gooner. Was yours also done under local? I’m petrified the though of hearing and feeling everything as they won’t put me to sleep. What was yours under? Xx

Mine was under general, I had a COVID pcr test on the Friday, op on the Monday. You have to do what you feel comfortable with, maybe go for the tablets if you’re really nervous about it but it can take a lot longer and I just wanted to focus on the positive that we got our BFP with our cycle and I want to go again on my next period as I’m 39 and I just feel like my time is running out with my own eggs so that was a big factor in our decision xxx

Yeah this is only reason I would do surgery is because quicker. I am so scared tho because local of hearing snd feeling everything :( we’re ivf and I don’t take periods or ovulate etc so everything takes around 6 month for us to go through so it’s just so long and I don’t even know what the next steps will be now. Did u heal quickly after surgery? Or have some bleeding for a while xxx

Bleeding very lightly for about 9 days in total, a few mild cramps on and off for about 7 days, now back to normal. I’ve got to do a pregnancy test next Monday just to make sure the hcg level has gone but other than that, everything went well with it so we’re now waiting to do a FET in a few weeks time with our blasto from our last round as we luckily got 2 (One which was our MMC and one which we froze) xxx

Hi Blue, so sorry you're having to go through this.

I went with the surgery option as I wanted closure. I also liked that someone else would manage it for me so I wouldn't have to monitor bleeding, etc. But it was under a general so I understand your concern if the option you are being given is a local anaesthetic only.

As others have said, I can also vouch that the recovery has been straight forward and that would be the same either way (plus recovering from the effects of a general can be unpleasant - so you won't have that aspect). Maybe you could ask to listen to music or something to distract you during the process, if that's the option you pick? Happy to answer any questions and hope you are doing okay. x
