Lead follicle measurement at trigger

Hello. I'm on my third egg collection. My lead follicle measured at 25mm today and I've now taken my trigger shot.

Is this too big? Did I leave trigger too late? Does anyone have success stories with eggs that measured 25mm?

Hi, I always worry about losing the lead follicle if it’s too big / over mature.

My clinic in Bristol have said they like a minimum of 17mm to proceed to egg collection and a max of 24/25mm. One nurse said 24mm, another nurse said 25mm. It’s never a straight answer!

I had a lead follicle of 22mm just before trigger last EC and I am not sure if it would have grown in size after the trigger shot to be nearer 24/25mm. I asked but it was unclear answers.

They also said it doesn’t grow more after trigger just ripens, but the other nurse said it does continue to grow so who knows on that front, I never got a straight answer.

I think all clinics are slightly different with these things though.

Yep, on both my fresh rounds I had one dominant follicle (around 26mm I think) and was told they may be cysts or turn into cysts but they got mature eggs from them. I understood the trigger doesn't make them any bigger but I could be wrong and I guess there would still be some of the stims meds in your system which could influence them. If you've got a lead then assuming you have other smaller ones so even if the lead one doesn't produce anything viable you've got other chances. Best of luck!

Hi, I’ve done 4 cycles and my best results were when they left them to grow bigger. Everyone is different so try not to worry. I was also told they don’t grow much after the trigger. Good luck x
