This morning I had my day 8 scan to find my right ovary hasn’t responded at all and left ovary has 2 beautiful follicles.
I could tell the dr was taken back.
She gave me 2 options, cancel this cycle end induce ovulation m, or go in for egg collection but expect that a transfer may not happen. She asked how I would feel next time if only one follicle developed as that could very well be the case, or I could have 4, who knows!
AMH 4.4 tested jan 21
Last cycle 4 follicles, 3 eggs collected, 1 abnormal (from the needle 😭) 1 immature and 1 perfect that was a day 3 who couldn’t quite stick.
I’m not sure what I’m asking 💖

Is it NHS or private? Just something to bear in mind with costs/ future entitlement to treatment?
Your AMH isn’t that low. Do you know your AFC? Not sure of your age but have they considered short protocol? You don’t have the down regulation stage and my understanding is that can be better for lower AMH.
Hopefully someone will be along with more advice about what to do with this cycle x
Agree with the previous poster in terms of type of protocol. I have had 3 IVF cycles, unfortunately still waiting for success but my experience was similar to yours on my first cycle. I had one unresponsive ovary. This improved on my second cycle with a change of drugs, protocol and timing of the trigger and I did have a better overall result with both ovaries responding. It's so difficult to know if the response will be better by trying again, and so much of this is based on hope. You mentioned a previous cycle you did though, did both ovaries respond then? X
I know! It’s such a mess and so much to think about and get my head around. Yes last cycle I had 2 follicles in each ovary, 2 eggs collected from the left and 1 on the right x
Hi Judith. Just wanted to let you know the same happened to me. Last month my left ovary produced nothing, not a single follicle! "Lazy left" I called it, and I thought it was broken.
But this month, it produced more than the right one! They must take it in turns or something 🤷🏼♀️ I'm sure your right ovary will join the party and come through with the goods next round 😘😘😘😘 xxx
Hi Judith, sorry you are facing these tough choices... I wish we had crystal balls in IVF! I had a similar choice recently, my day 8 scan only showed 2 decent follicles and my initial reaction was 'defo I want to cancel'. The cycle before that I'd had about 16 follicles! But them my consultant said the same as you - maybe that's the best you'll get now, basically. And it's so hard to weigh up 'is it just a bad month and I'm unlucky but if we cancel and re-do it'll be better' vs ' actually, maybe my fertility has just dipped a lot and this IS the best i can do now' (my last cycle before this one was 18 months ago)? In the end we went ahead to EC and managed to get 5 eggs, amazingly (though as expected 3 of them were too small and not mature). We got one good 5 day embryo out of it, which was amazing. Didn't stick though 😔 I'm just hoping against hope our last round will be better. I know it only takes one, and it does seem often the quality is much better from just a small number of eggs, but I'm also painfully aware it's a numbers game. I've never had anything to freeze and that would just be so amazing, to have that extra chance without having to pay 4 grand for a new fresh cycle!! Good luck in whatever you choose to do xx
It’s such a tough one isn’t it? We’re going ahead with this cycle, EC is on Monday. I just think if we cancel I’ll always wonder, and if it doesn’t work and next time I had the same amount of follicles I think I’d be really disappointed that we didn’t proceed with this one. Honestly I was hoping on Wednesday morning for a miracle thinking I could have 8 or more follicles so we could freeze some, but that would never happen here 😂. I’m sending you all the positive vibes your way xx
