Left ovary not responding

Hello everyone,

I’m on my third round of IVF . Just turned 43. The first two resulted with no eggs being fertilised so I took a break for 4 months and took a new set of vitamins and supplements to improve egg quality ( after reading it begins with the egg) day 7 of my ovuleap and fermadryl stimulation. My left ovary has not responded much at all to the drugs … has anyone ever had this happen to them ? Is it possible that it will be like this from now on … ? Feeling a bit puzzled. The clinic don’t seem overly concerned but I’m trying hard to be positive.

Hi Jinny, I'm really sorry you're having such a hard time. I had similar in both my cycles. The first time round I only had one huge follicle grow on my right ovary and it turned out the be a cyst so didn't produce anything and then the second time round only one egg from my right side and the rest came from my left. How is your other ovary doing? IVF can definitely still be successful with only one responding ovary Xxx

Hello. Thank you for reaching out and the reassurance. The right one is responding as expected with about 5 follicles ( a bit less than I’d like but as least it’s responding ) With one already big enough to collect but I now wonder if it’s a cyst! I think it’s such a contrast to the last time , where I had 20 follicles response. It’s just so different to the previous cycles. But I guess they will be! I just keep hoping for the best but trying not to overthink it !

It's great your right hand side is doing well! Fingers crossed the large follicle is just a really enthusiastic egg! The outcomes vary so much from cycle to cycle, in my first round I only got two eggs and no blastocysts, I think the cyst sucked up all the ovaleap so none of the other follicles got any, but the second time round I got 6 eggs and 4 blastocysts. So hard to predict how things will turn out. The vitamins and supplements you're taking should help with egg quality, it really does only take one good egg to get there <3 xxx

Hi, I am sorry that you run into similar situation, for me, right side no response and left five. The doc cannot explain any and no cyst observed. The bright side is that I only need to be punctured once. Good luck for your right side and you only need a good one to make it.

Same here. I have endo and low AMH (it was low when first tested age 34). My right ovary never responds well. Left ovary seems to do all the work! I’ve had three egg collections now and all been the same.
