Today was my first progress scan. I had 13 follicles on one ovary but just 3 on the other. The sizes range from 9-19mm.
My consultant has decreased my FSH dosage slightly so the bigger follicles don’t get too big.
Compared to my first fresh cycle 4 years ago both my ovaries produced almost identical numbers of follicles left: 6 | right: 7. And eggs were collected from all of them.
Has anyone else had such a difference? And what does it mean?

Absolutely! Always have more on my right. First cycle was 7 on right, and none on the left, 2nd cycle, I think 4 were retrieved from my right and 2 from the left.
I just had an egg collection today and they got 13 eggs! When they scanned me on Wednesday, they only saw 3 or 4 on the left.
My left ovary always plays hide and seek with the doctors by the way, so I am not surprised the numbers are lower.
Was the same for me! I had loads on my right and hardly none on the left, however the doctor said this could be down to the PCO so I wondered if you had the same thing? Or if it was just something they said to palm me off 😂best of luck! ❤️
Hi, no I don’t have PCO. It’s nice to know that other women have had the same thing. The nurse said it could just be a one off month as my ovaries were both similar before and that she’s only be concerned if it kept happening.
Hi, I’ve just had something very similar. My left ovary produced far more follicles than the right one. My egg collection was on Wednesday and they retrieved 12 eggs, and nine of these were from the left - only three from the right! So bizarre. This has never happened to me either (this is my third round). But it didn’t really matter at all, to be honest. I was just told that sometimes one ovary reacts more than the other. Good luck! Sounds like you have great numbers. x
Same for me. I've had 2 EC and in both of them the right ovary produced more eggs than the left. In the 2 natural FETs I've had, ovulation was always from the right side as well. I just assumed I had a lazy left ovary due to my age (40 in August) 😂😂
