We had a successful IVF pregnancy in December 2020. We’d love her to have a sibling but we are both 40+ with fertility issues so know time isn’t on our side. How soon can you start another IVF cycle after having a baby? My periods have returned (had 4 fairly regular cycles so far). How soon is too soon?

Best check with the clinic you are planning to use Good luck for the future

I don’t know the answer to your question but I would start as soon as you can even if you just put the embryos on ice until you are ready… we started trying at 39 and I’ve had 6 miscarriages since all naturally conceived (and one before my dd) and a round of ivf with three euploid embryos all fail to even implant and now I’m 42 I feel quite hopeless. I’d say try as soon as u can and then put them on ice
It largely depends how straight forward your pregnancy /birth was? If you had a c section my clinic said it was a minimum 18 month gap before doing another transfer but they’d do 12 months if I had it signed off by a doctor in terms of scar tissue/uterus healing etc
I know women on other groups who had vaginal births who are doing their next transfer 12-15 months later
If you are doing another full egg collection cycle most clinics want you to have stopped breastfeeding first so that your hormones have settled down and cycle returned to normal
Geez, I'm pondering the same question! I'm 19 weeks with my first and due in December 2021...I'll be 39 and want to hopefully get cracking on baby 2 as soon as possible! We have nothing in the freezer. I sincerely hope that it isn't an 18 month minimum! I definitely think that you should talk to your clinic, take all supplements for fertility that are safe while breastfeeding and start trying naturally (if at all an option) at the very least! I know of two ladies that fell preggers 3 months after they'd given birth so it does and can happen! Xxxx
We're trying for number 2 when little one is 6 months old. He's currently just 6 weeks but we really want him to have a sibling.I'm a teacher and the amount of kids who have older brothers and sisters in the years above and below them... Some children have a 12 month age gap.
So I'd say crack on 🤣
But I'm 40 in December so I don't want to miss the boat
Hi Louisa I’m trying again and it’s a year after having my first baby through ivf. I think I could have started early but. Am using the same nhs clinic but paying this time and had to be referred which took around 6 months. Something to take into consideration was that I was told I had to stop breastfeeding, so annoyingly I stopped possibly earlier than I would have done so naturally.
I started trying for the second exactly 5 months after my c section. I figured since I was 39, it would take a while. In the end, it took us almost 3 years to get there. I was doing a mix of IVFs, natural, IUIs.
I had my little one at the end of September 2020 and just had an embryo transfer today. I had a straight forward birth and embryos on ice so they were happy for me to try now xx
Hi there
I had my successful IVF Boy in August 2020 and did a frozen transfer a month ago. Unfortunately it did not work, so we will be starting IVF again next week.
I think since time is not on your side, and you think you are ready, go for it.
Good luck 🙏🤞
