2nd miscarriage

Hi guys just wondering if anyone has any positive outcomes in this situation…

I’m pregnant following FET. Had a blighted ovum from fresh cycle and found out today it’s the same thing. I’m heartbroken. I have two embryos left but feel like they must all be wrong… I’m in Ireland so everything is private.. we would have to pay 10 grand to have them tested…

Any stories or advices would be very welcomed right now x

Hello lovely, I'm told that I'm also probably experiencing my second miscarriage in a row. It really is so hard. I would not give up hope on your remaining embryos though, and some studies have started to show that PGS testing is not as reliable as previously thought. Here is a really interesting article from New York Magazine about it thecut.com/2017/09/ivf-abno...

I’m so sorry to hear that you’re going through this too. Thanks for that article it was a great read, I definitely am feeling a bit better about everything. Hope you are minding yourself too x

Don't lose heart. It's statistically impossible for every embryo in an IVF cycle to lead to a healthy birth. I can imagine how frustrating it is but I wouldn't waste the 2 that are left. You never know, your baby could be one of them! If neither works and it happens again, after 3 miscarriages you can have a vast number of tests under the NHS and potentially get to the bottom of it, if there is something wrong. It's how I discovered about a blood clotting condition I didn't know I had and am now on blood thinners. I really do wish you the best of luck. ❤

Thank you! You’re right, I need to keep positive about my remaining two embryos. Fingers crossed. Glad to hear you got sorted xxx

I had 5 natural miscarriages in a row - 2 were confirmed blighted ovums and the others were lost just before scans so who knows! I then started IVF and did PGS testing and out of 9 embryos 5 were normal (all the abnormal had extra or missing chromosomes). My first FET failed so had further testing which showed immune issues so added additional drugs and 2nd FET worked am now 21 weeks. For me the PGS just gave me a little extra comfort knowing that the chances were higher if chromosomes normal but if I didn't have the money I'm not sure what I would have done. I was at breaking point after my 5th miscarriage and the thought of another one was terrifying. I'm sorry for your losses - please don't lose hope.

Congrats on your current pregnancy, that’s just wonderful to hear, I’m sorry you went through so much to get there. I’ll try not to lose hope, I’m sure in a few weeks I’ll feel good again and want to try with another embryo but right now the thoughts of doing it again terrify me x

Sorry for your losses. I’ve experienced 2nd miscarriage (2nd being blighted ovum) and i just couldn’t get my head around it. My consultant says the first miscarriage was likely due to fact it was twins and this time it was just bad luck/abnormal embryo. He said he won’t test remaining as im “young and healthy” (34). I think they only recommend testing if you’re 40 and above. Im having blood tests done to rule out any maternal factors but apparently this is unlikely as again im “young and healthy” 😭 xx

I’m so sorry you’ve gone through that. They are saying similar to me as I’m 31 so should have ‘good quality eggs’… doesn’t make me feel any better!! Wishing you lots of luck XX
